Hi all.

Just looking for some advice. I'm doing some work on my bsd and @Chris P very kindly gave me a rats cliffy. I've run into trouble trying to get the metal posts off though. These two where it sits:

I've taken the nut off from underneath where it goes through to, but all it does is spin when I try to undo it:

Just wondering what I am doing wrong and what I need to look at to get this thing off, it appears to be welded in place and utterly impenetrable!

In the early years I remember some advice from Phil Palmer to fix a loose pawl.
"**** it with a hammer !"

Really you should tap it gently using a punch or scrap screw so as not to damage the thread.

Yeah I will, I think I will try using a toffee hammer I have. Just got to dig it out.
