Question about switches

Me again!!

I have to put an order in for a tool I need which is only available at RS components.
The shipping is more than the tool itself so I thought I’d order some micro switches I need at the same time.

I need the data east trough switches with rollers. According to pin heaven they are 0.5a 125v ac.

These aren’t available on RS.

They do have 5a and 6a 250vac

What are the implications of using this switch. Is it just over kill for what i need but will do no harm. Or will the world implode if I install one.

Yeah as long as the physical size is correct, they'll be fine.

The ratings are just the switch maximum capabilities before the contacts start melting, so you'll be fine as all switch circuits in pins use low voltage are next to zero current.

In other words, they're just switching CPU inputs, not switching big power to big loads directly.

It’s not quite that simple. You’ll need to check the activation force. Higher rated switches tend to need more force to activate. In a trough that means that if the force is high the balls won’t roll over

Compare db1 ( rs switch ) to db5 ( the one I sell ).
