I know a few here do it, interested to know your real world experiences and tips.
Security, costs in location hire, profit, games that do well, insurance, etc.

Don't forget perseved devalution if a game was previously home use only
Yeah, would be used games only I imagine to start with.
If you need any advice give me a bell.
Just an idea at the moment, was thinking of putting my HS2 out whilst I get another in, but as much as I love it I don't think it's a location based theme for your average punter.

I think Steve means "perceived" and there is no perception about it, games on location get treated MUCH worse than games at home and deserve to be priced lower.

make sure you have PAT and you get third party liability insurance, most sensible locations will insist upon this in any case.

How are you making folks pay? Coins - who is giving change? How are you splitting the takings?
how do you know if the game has been powered off because someone moaned about it?

A lot of games on location are modern sterns and for good reason, they are the most reliable on location.

Neil.

Thanks Neil.

Yes agree on long term value and resale if that was the case, I kind of wish there were pinball logbooks so you know it's history.

I'm a qualified PAT tester so would do that before they went out anyway.

I'm thinking coin op rather than tokens in bar environment for change.

I have no idea on rates, split of profits etc. Would love to know what works for people, but understand it's fairly confidential too as it's people's income so don't expect fully details on a post.

Good to know on the Sterns, I was considering older machines but you're right on the maintenance on them. I'd maintain and clean myself probably monthly or as a fault arises.

If you are putting an older game on site make sure it is bullet proof . Earning a living again is a massive shock to an older machine , might be reliable for an hour or 2 for a few games but suddenly if its on for maybe 12 hours and many plays any flaky mechs or electronics are going to throw a wobbly.

Location is everything - who are the punters ? Newer Sterns are more recognisable themes to non pinheads. Getaway is ace fun but to a casual punter looking at the translite it looks like its based on a ZX Spectrum game :D

I can't remember any off the top of my head, but suspect there are many historical posts on this topic with good advice with a quick search.

I did search and came up with nothing. Tried a few keyword variations too.
A few examples below. There is a guy on the East Coast who was converting an office or something that he owned into a coffee shop with pinballs. I seem to remember that had quite a lot of info too, but couldn't find it searching and cant remember the person's username :hmm:

This one I think.
