I assume a prototype 3D print would be quite brittle? Anyone know the state of 3D printed plastics these days?

Would a hard silicon material be best for these? Like those oven mits..?

If you're really worried then use pipe insulation like this:

Also good for protecting backboxes against side rails when using ratchet straps for tombstoning and moving pins.

sorry yes the Snackbar Mod is not cheap but alot of parts in the mod and the top and sign all professionally printed - not crappy home printing
