Hi

As above my HP has just stopped printing Black.

I had a Photosmart Premium C309a, it was okay - lots I did not like about it but i don't know of any printer that i have got on with 100%.

Be grateful for some suggestions please.

Cheers.

JB

No recommendations from me, my printer is a few years old so probably not in production any more, but when I need a new one I tend to trust the reviews from PC Advisor Magazine. Here's their latest list: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/printing/best-printers-2017-3217306/

Edit: Your old printer is not well thought of on Amazon reviews either - actually the consensus seems to be that it's a load of gash ;). That's another good place to get an idea of what to expect: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Photosmart-Premium-C309a-All/dp/B001RCTA7E

I use a colour laser as was fed up with them getting to 18 months old and the heads clogging (Epson)..... If you do get another inkjet, i would strongly recommend getting something like an HP where the heads are in the cartridge...

I use a Ricoh, however couldnt recommend it as the after sales was shocking when it went wrong.

However LOVE the usability of the laser... Good quality prints, toner lasts for ages (and you can usually get topups very cheap).. Network ones are also useful, and you can get some nice Wireless and Network ones now (something like this : https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Ink-Laser-Printers/Samsung-SL-C430W-SEE-Colour-Laser-Printer/B010NE2HGW/ )

We replaced our trusty long-lasting HP laser printer with a 'new generation' HP pagewide inkjet printer about a year ago. we've found it to be super quick and super reliable in a small office environment as well as appearing to be a lot lower cost to run than the laser we had before.
Depends what your budget is, but I think the higher initial cost is soon made up by much lower ongoing consumables. It's certainly an 'inkjet' that prints much quicker and more reliably than the laser we had

Agree with Paul here about inkjet so and them drying up and blocking the jets etc especially if not use for a while and even more so if using copy cartridges or refilling originals.

After running through 3 or 4 inkjets from canon, hp and Epson I have now got an hp Colour laser, although initial layout was more the running cost seems to be less and far more reliable quality wise

Not a big fan of all in one printer/scanners, I prefer a separate scanner and printer.

I've probably '0veremphasised' the inkjetedness of HPs new type if printer - it's really a new type of technology which isn't a Laser, and hence running cost are much lower (no expensive drum/fusion unit to periodically replace).

I've always favoured Laser over inkjet for our work use - across 7 users with a lot of colour print outs for our work use is quite high. When we got the new HP we retained one of our previous co,our laser printers and I expected to carry on preferring to use it. In reality I now print everything on the new HP page wide printer as it's so much quicker and more reliable
