HI all, looking to sell my Indianapolis 500. As This is the first time i have sold a machine and i probably paid over the odds when i bought it, i thought i would seek advice on here as to its value.
Since i bought it i have added:
New pop bumpers and caps, replaced all broken starposts and plastics (apart from one which i cannot get hold of), new rubbers, complete new bottom flippers, new LED kit from pinballbulbs USA, and upgraded rom chip.
The DMD is missing 2 lines on the right and 2 on the bottom. I will need replacing although it dose not stop you knowing whats going on in the game
The cabinet is the worst thing about the machine, faded on the right hand side with quite a few scratches on it. Structurally sound though.
The boards are as clean as a whistle with no battery acid damage.
The machine plays flawlessly with no faults on start up and is extremely fast!!
I have attached a quick picture but will get more up tonight.
As always, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Damn nice Indy! The game itself is probably what lets you down the most as it is not a highly desirable title. Indy tends to sell for £1250-£1400, maybe a little more or less depending on condition. Yours looks pretty nice so you can probably push it a little higher but not much. Maybe another Indy owner can come along and help out? I know there is a few on here!

I500 is probably £1000 to £1200. Yours looks in good nick but with the DMD issues maybe smack in the middle at £1100. Are all of the light up targets undamaged?

Thanks for all the replies so far!
Ron, They all work, all bulbs in them and the switches. To be honest i haven't been near anything that did work when i got it if that makes sense. Just concentrated on replacing what didn't work. I will check them out later though. Cheers for the heads up!

I don't think I have seen an Indy 500 go for less than a grand. The last 2 I was watching on Ebay last year went for just over 1400. I sold mine for 1250 or 1300 I can't remember which. I 've seen quite a few go for around the 1200 mark.
So I reckon 1200 -1400 is about the right range for this particular title. (1400 being a very nice, fully working example.)

It's actually a great game but it is let down by it's theme somewhat in UK as nobody here cares about the real Indy 500. It's very popular on Pinside these days. Gets a lot of love.

There was an absolute spanker sold on ebay last year for I think £1600 ish ( someone please correct me if wrong ) but that had a complete custom cabinet decal set and over the top makeover by one of the guys that takes things to Many levels ( I'm sure someone knows his name ), don't think he's on here but on the yahoo group?

Oops. Didn't notice the DMD lines out. That definitely will knock the value a bit.

Thats been bothering me for a bit now. Do i replace it before i sell it just to get the money back i spent replacing it. Or sell as is and leave it to the buyer to decide if he/she wants to replace it.

I think most British people prefer races where you have to turn both left AND right. Takes a bit more skill. ;-)
Would of thought by now there would of been an F1 pinball game. Worldwide audience as oppose to Indycar which is just the US

I would probably leave it and let the buyer decide. You probably would not get the full cost of a new DMD back if you replaced it before selling it. Unless you pickup a good used one from somebody.

Williams made a Pinball named 'Grand Prix' but that's not quite the same as F1-themed. I'd dread to think how much moolah they'd have to give to Bernie to get the license to use the FIA branding for a 'real' F1 game.

I think you'd probably not get the money back on buying a new DMD. If you can get a fully working 2nd hand one (e.g. off someone who's replaced theirs with a ColorDMD or something) it might be worth it depending on how much you get it for.

Aint that the truth!

If thats the case its depends on the buyer i suppose. I was hoping someone on here might fancy it. Dont really want to go the ebay route!

Very nice, I'm tempted but I have no space left :(

That, and Scotland's quite a drive from me...

Thanks to everybody for their input. I 'm thinking £1100 as is?? (less than i put into it but i know i overpaid)

As the current owner of that one I can confirm it was £1300 ;):) & very happy I was (and am) with the purchase at that price for a great looking machine with no faults.

http://www.pinballinfo.com/community/threads/indy500.11078/

It was/is in extremely good condition with just cabinet fade as the only apparent flaw(as us standard), so I would have thought £1000 -£1100 for the machine as described with a few glitches to rectify?

Good luck with the sale - looks like a nice machine with just a few minor niggles for someone to iron out.

So the general thoughts seem to point towards £1050. If thats a fair price i am happy to put it up for sale at that. Again, keep your thoughts coming. Really appreciate it.
