Hi all

I have never had the pleasure of repairing or replacing any part of a pop bumper, but my "Radical" looks like 1 of them is not working. Though in saying all this, i'm sure i've seen it working at times, probably just me!

Only noticed this the other night and rather than test it,i've already stripped the playfield for a deep clean and most of the test buttons etc have disappeared from inside the coin door. Don't ask me, ask Pinball Daze why :)

So,could it simply be a dirty leaf switch, a blown fuse, pos circuit board problem(where do i look) system 11c is it? bad coil?
All wires connected so thats ok.

How do you ever know if a coil is bad as never replaced 1 of them either. Do they slow up and stop working or just stop dead.

Any help,much appreciated guys.

Simon

I have an issue with a coil atm if the coil has continuity when disconnected its fine the prob lies somewhere else. That's where I am at the mo trying to find the bleddy prob

In my experience when a pop bumper has stopped working, it's the gap on the leaf switch. When the ball presses on the bumper skirt, it pushes a pointed plastic tip under the pf, into a plastic cup, which then opens a leaf switch. You can pinch the copper contacts closer together which normally sorts it. Or it could be a wire off a coil. Start with those simple things first.

Rudedogg, hope you sort it soon; me and electronics go together like leccy and water :noidea:

Gaz, many thanks. Really hope that works; will check and clean. Cheers

Tip mode: For leaf switches you could buy a leaf switch adjustment tool but you can make one from a flat head screw driver. Borrow a flat head screw driver from a mate and cut vertically into the head with a hack saw or dremel style cutting blade. Cut a depth suitable to the width of the leaf switch and avoid your fingers.

Cheers Gaz. Sorted, just needed a little fine tuning on the leaf switch as you said.Radical now shopped! Now they work, they look awesome with the clear covers and changeable LED's :)
