Playfield won't go into service position

I have a Fish Tales which won't slide far enough forward into service position, it will slide so far then just stop, no amount of pulling will get the spring levers to lock into position. The move freely when actuated by hand.

I've compared it to HS2 which easily slides in and out and they both look the same! It was suggested that I lift the playfield back onto the cabinet bolts but it looks like its on the right ones anyway?

I wonder if the cabinet pegs just need a bit of dry lubricant, they're pretty gummed up compared to HS2.

I've tried pulling at a variety of angles but it ain't having it, all thats ends up happening is the whole machine is pulled towards me.

Yes, he was the person who suggested lifting it back on to the pegs, but its on them as you can see.

The skis at the back on the playfield don't appear to do anything, what is the purpose of them?

i don't have a scooby mate, maybe something rests on there? the pf presumably?

if it was me, i'd try to left the back of the pf up (one person on each side) then lower it down again. don't worry though, there's plenty of FT owners on here will sort you out

Hi Carl

I probably didn't do a great job of explaining what I meant last night.
This is the same situation I was in when the game was delivered to me. It had me stumped until I realised that although the playfield was sitting on the pegs, it wasn't moving on them correctly when I pulled it forward. To sort it out, I had to get someone to help me and we took one side of the pf each and lifted it upright far as we could and then lifted it from the back until it clicked into position with the pegs in the gaps on the pf brackets. Once it was on there I didn't have the issue again.
Like I said yesterday, I couldn't see what had caused it. I can only guess that one of the brackets is slightly bent or something but if that is the case it's not obvious. (I only came to that conclusion as somebody on a thread on Pinside had a very similar problem and that is what it turned out to be.) #
Once I had it in the correct position I didn't have the issue again and was able to lift the playfield as normal. I wonder if it traveling to you has caused it to move again?

OK, I just had another look at your pic. It's definitely not right. It looks like the playfield brackets are on the wrong side of the pegs! They should be underneath the pegs when the playfield is in that position. The other side of them (then non spring side) is where the gaps are that the pegs sit in to enable pivoting the playfield.

It should run up and over the front peg else it wouldn't pivot...

I'll have to wait until I can get another pair of hands to sort this out.

Yeah, sorry Carl. I though that was the smaller back pegs in the picture but I can see it's not now. Right, so it definitely need lifting from the back again then.

I had exactly the same problem with my FT. Turned out the part that moves with the spring was bent and jammed when it should move freely apart from the resistance of the spring. Ended up unscrewing the the whole mechanism from the pf so that I could straighten it up in a vice. This is what it looks like now:Fish Tales hinge.JPG
