Hi all in process of doing my Johnny mnemonic ordered some Nos plastic ramps and they have slight marks and look a little dull any advice on making them sparkly … I thought I read somewhere about using a flame to make them lovely clear and sharp any advice welcome 1CA2BA6C-D016-411F-AD7E-DFB56F6EB559.jpeg
 
There's got to be a buffing drill attachment that'd do the job hasn't there?
Jewellery suppliers would be my first point of research.
A flame sounds crazy idea.
 
Sure I seen something on here a guy does it we a flame quietly away to shine them up might be wrong
 
Well even though it could be done, I'd say its the highest risk method. It could ripple or warp, whereas buffing/polishing you just need to find the grade of polish that does the job.
Super fine emery cloth would do it without risk as long as you had the tool to fit.
 
Yeah definitely try on your old ramps. Thats what I did to practice and it’s not as daunting as it looks and actually worked really well.
 
Be really careful as in the words of Bon Scott “a
Touch too much” and you well and truly fked!
Well I made the latter up but it kinda suited the song for what you about to do.
 
Yep flame polishing is the way to go, a friend of mine does it with amazing results so Ive now invested in a small blow torch to practice my self
 
This may be worth a try before firing up the oxy-acetylene

Sounds like the best solution here is to pay Chris to do it for you! Well less risky solution anyway hehe :) Would be a cool skill to have on the other hand, how much practice do you need?

I didn’t, friend did. He has a gas soldering iron with attachment that produces small flame. Goes fast and lightly over the ramp bit by bit.

Key is to avoid temptation and don’t go over the same area to long or starts to bubble and burn
