I thought this might be useful for some of the regulars to pass on a few tips to the first timers like myself.

What are your tips for pinfest? What about pin etiquette if there is wait to get on particular machines you want to play? What’s the script for food during the weekend?

Any advice much appreciated!

I am travelling down with my dad and we have a twin room booked for Saturday Sunday and two VIP tickets.

Hoping to mix with lots of members probably once my dad goes to bed early! 🍻 😁

Cheers Alan

If you want to play a game whilst someone is currently using it, just stand and wait. Generally they'll finish their game and move on. All quite friendly.

During the day, there is a food stall set up in the reception area. Cheaper than the restaurant. Serves hot and cold food like burger and chips, sandwiches etc...

Evening sessions are a must. Not so many people and quicker access to the machines.

Most important advice if you are staying
MAKE USE OF THE SHOWER - regularly.

It gets hot in the main room, it takes 15 minutes to go your room, get a shower, change of tshirt and come back. Don't just try and cover up the smell with deodorant.

Don’t stick 4 players on a game if it’s only you playing.
Look behind you before pressing the start button. If people are there then ask if they want to join
Generally talk to people
Don’t make the mistake of eating in the restaurant
Enjoy yourself
Come back with a wish list of which pins you want to buy.

Oh. Remember in films when there is an autopsy and people apply a scent beneath their noses to hide the smell of decomposition. You would make a fortune flogging that stuff at any pin event. 😱

Hope you both have a good time there.

That’s definitely one thing I’ve notice, since attending pinball events
some peoples personal hygiene, is below par to say the least ! 🤣

It’s my first time to pinfest, I intend to play and try the food and most importantly chat to a few forum members.

EBay do a printed T-shirt with your name on it for £12 more than one is needed of course.
Ive ordered one just now to see if it’s ok.

sounds good to me, we have just booked a hotel For two nights 15 minutes away.
Im with another forum member Andy.s very easy to recognise very tall and will be wearing named clothing, me £11.99 T.shirt with Happypin on it, just on the Friday I might add !!!

Not always the case with pin etiquette.
Some peeps don’t have any social smarts.
I was at NLP a few years ago and dying to play Metallica. Stood for almost an hour and this ignorant twat just ignored everyone and hogged the pin.
Never know he may be a member on here, if so you know who you are …lol

Wear comfy shoes or take a seat frequently in the courtyard as your feet will get sore after 3 days playing . I recommend sketchers walking shoes with memory foam - feels like you are walking on pillows . Plus sitting in the courtyard or bar is a good place to get chatting - most of the hotel will be pinballers and it’s a very friendly community . Join in with stallball on Friday and Saturday night - lots of banter and fun in the queue. I will also have name badges at the Scottish pinball table and will be asking people to put their forum names etc on them - that’s my tips - oh and drink plenty - it gets warm 😀

When booking women to the room the massage parlour just outside town has the better escorts.

If it's late and you're also hungry get the girls to swing by Tesco Express and pick up a chicken & mushroom pot noodle on their way over.

Always leave the papas grass outside the door AND put do not disturb up.

Showering is also crucial for this activity.
