Hi all

I’m sure we all know about this definition!

The Professional and Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) is an organization supporting the game of pinball as a recreational and competitive sport.

If they do cater for amateurs as well as the pros how much tougher are their games set up compared to those at the UK pinball open tournament?

I believe @Neil McRae is striving towards same standard as PAPA and IFPA sanctioned tournaments

I personally feel its a good thing, there is a growing crowd of us wanting to travel more for tournaments... So having UK tournaments to the same standard is important for player development and knowing what to expect

I am personally extremely heavy handed so UK OPEN 2019 was perfect for trying to get that under control

However if you come to a tournament or league at Tilt we leave our machines as factory standard as we attract players from all levels etc

Cheers Kirk!

Do let me know when your next weekend tournament is! I understand your league nights are on a Monday!

No matter what the settings - it’s the same for everybody. Top players will always be the top players...

Hence we don’t want a 4 hour match just for the top player to win it, when he could have won it in a 10 minute match...

If you look at the semis onwards from the UK Open you see how the top players raise their game even on tough machines!

Neil.

also its not just PAPA that do this. pretty much all the major events in the US are doing it. take a look at the video of the walking dead from NYCPC... I couldn't get a score on it at all. Since then my TWD has been set as hard as the one at NYCPC and I'm getting better and better. I think if I was to play the NYCPC one now I'd have qualified for the finals. I wasted 8 attempts trying to get a score on TWD there and got no more than 30M! Having the game set tough at home has definitely improved my skills.

As have taking part in the uk open - I hope will have improved on my pinball playing skills too! 15 mil on Metallica which was set to brutal on Thursday is no mean feat!

Good luck at pinbrough!
