Hi all can anyone tell me if this is something to worry about? It looks all black to me.
Sorry it not in colour but can't find out how to change it

Those cement resistors do get hot, you can replace and leave the legs longer to get more airflow, I don’t know if it’s down to age of component or just design.

I was worried because they look all black and wasn't sure if it was a problem

LW3? Nice one

Not ideal but perfectly normal. Some parts of this boardset ran hot, just poor design really.

It's mostly likely just soot. Brush with a short-bristle paint brush to get rid of the majority then use IPA to clean the remaining residue.

Or just leave it. No massive harm. Remember it's a 29 year old pin.

Your board top left is a Rottendog reproduction just fyi. The original must have gone kaput.

Change those batteries while you're in there. Alkalines are time bombs. I'd recommend Energizer Lithiums off Amazon (not ebay..!)

I'd remote them well clear of the board too. No matter what you've replaced them with for the cost and time of taking the batteries away from the boards is good move.
