Odd sized hex wood screw on The Shadow

Hi all - run into a bit of an odd issue with my Shadow. The wood screws holding on the playfield ball guides (and I believe the bulb holders on the underside) are too large for a 6mm hex bit, but too small for a 7mm hex bit. I thought maybe they were 6.5mm but I managed to fudge a way to get them out - if I put a tiny bit of card in the 7mm bit, they unscrew - so they'll be too large for a 6.5mm bit. See my conundrum? Am I missing something obvious, or are these just odd sized screws?

If anyone knows what size they are / how to get them out a little more practically (have to fish out and replace the card each time...) then let me know!
