Nothing to do with pinball,query

My daughter has a 240v ac in adaptor with a 12v ac output. It controls a motor and a small spotlite.
What is gonna happen if she uses an adaptor with a 12v dc output. The 12v ac is buggered.
I'm normally aufait with these things but not sure on this one. Thanks Ken
