Just to balance out the general doom and gloom surrounding what 'appears' to be ever rising pin prices ....couple of examples from last few days on ebay, finished auctions

Lethal Weapon 3 .....£510. They have always been around this price long as I remember
smile-1.png

Judge Dredd .... £711 ...Again not wildly more than many have sold for in the last few years
smile-1.png

Twilight Zone ....£1700 OK it had a few things needing fixing, but certainly not the 2K+ that everyone seems to think is a given these days

Just an observation. The reasonable prices are still out there even on ebay, maybe not as frequently as they used to be but no need to panic yet prospective pin buyers

I have noticed a number of games are going a reasonable prices too which is good to see. A Hook finished earlier this evening for £380ish which is a great price for any dmd game.

TAF is the pin that is really hard to find now for reasonable price. Must be cos not many made

Hmmm ....that was a pretty rough old Hook though, by anyones standards  You can even see rust inside the scoops. No picture of under the playfield but guessing it could be equally rusty and grim under there. Plus no guarantee the display is even working.

Well Griz, just looked at ebay completed items and your theory has just been blown out of the water. £1.4K for a BK2K !!! and over £1.5K !!! for a DESW with wear and broken plastics etc.

Now to sell a couple of mine at those prices and buy another NIB ;o)

I tried ......I tried to talk them down

Theres definitely been a slow down. That TOM for sale last week would have been snapped up in hours last year

Not necessarily... Machines that sell well over the odds tend to have this strange habit of re-appearing again sometime later (normally from the same seller) for a similar asking price (maybe) in the hope that someone will have checked the prices like you did and think that perhaps the machine is worth that much after all... :suspect:

The prices of a very nice 'top' rated pin are irrelevant to me. Why? Because i know that if i fork out for one i could play it for a few months (even years in some cases), then sell when bored of it and recoup my initial outlay with ease. Yes, its a pain to fork out huge amounts of money for pins, but every pin i ever had i either got my money back when sold, or traded for another of equal value/condition. And thats without selling any on ebay.

As long as you dont mind rotating your pins every so often, you could have them all. My point is, if you want a pin that badly, find a way to buy a damn good one and you wont lose out when you tire of it (if you never do, its money well spent!).

The only thing that is sitting in my mind right now is if the current wave of new pins coming out will eventually squash the desire for the old stuff or not. It almost has with me so i wonder if anyone else feels the same?

Tried that justification on my wife a while back but she pointed out that the flaw is then that I have to sell them in order to get the cash back. Trading means that the cash is still tied up.

Similar logic to house prices. When prices are on the up then everyone is onto a winner but when a crash comes round......

Prices though do seem to have calmed down a bit. Good to see TZ under £2k.

Pinball prices are definitely seasonal, I notice it this time of year every year within my business, grab a bargain while you can

I think the LCD screen + JJP's attention to detail (+ toys/budget per pin) + Stern delivering pins we want as HUO collectors/as well as operators, will eventually lessen the demand on all our current favourites. DMDs are more desirable than alpha numerics and therefore if the bar is raised technically, it's only natural that these will become the most sought after. I reckon it'll take a while though and considering prices have gone mad during a recession  I think there will be a high demand for our current favs for a while yet.

If JJP pins are fantastic, over time the demand for older pins will diminish. That said, I think pins that feature the colour dmd will remain popular as they make already classic games, even better. No matter what games comes out in the future, the A listers will remain popular until demand across the board eases.

Good games are good games IMO and, regardless of new technology, there will always be those tables held up as the pinnacle of pinball design from a certain era. Where problems may be encountered is if folks have purchased tables as an investment. At some point the bubble always bursts...

Think someone will regret that...... (unless you're looking for one in which case you can have mine for a bargain 2999.99)

Yup that cheap season did not last long, back to normal prices

, £820 for a roughish FS is no steal either, but the TOM was worse I think, seller will be a very happy man indeed.
