A big shout to all the boys and girls who made the show happen, the pinball alley is a great venue for a pinball event. The machines were played non stop all week-end by non pinball people - THIS is what pinball events should be about. Great to see so many new people enjoying themselves, everyone who put this together should be immensely proud of what they have achieved, thanks a lot for putting on a great show

I took my brother along who was of the impression pinball was not for him......he left wanting to know when I was going to buy 'The Shadow' so he could play it again :-) Big respect again to all those involved, roll on the next event!

Also had a great time. Got chatting to a few people who were similarly impressed and said they were now looking to buy their first pin. Good for the hobby, bad for the ebay price wars!

Thanks kindly to all those that donated pins, and all those that helped keep them working so well. I only picked up my first pin a few weeks ago, but I'll make sure it (or /they/, who am I kidding) get there next year.

Fastbreak competition was great fun too, lots of close games. If that runs again next year it might be an idea to schedule the games in each group separately. Ie, group A players play their matches between 12pm-12:30, then group B 12:30-1:00 etc. Would save a lot of hanging around and hoping the players you were matched against were available.

And apologies if I caused a delay Sat night. Was engrossed in a (for me) epic game on NGG when I got the tap on the shoulder

All in all, great stuff.

I'll repeat what's been said above, had a great time all weekend. First attendance for myself, met a load of good, like-minded people and played some great never-seen-before machines.

Here's a collection of video clips from the Sunday. Unfortunately the noise was too much for my pin head sized camera microphone (all distorted) so have substituted it for some pinball music:

Regrets I did not have the camera for Saturday to cover the birthday presentation and pinball competition awards.

Thanks to the NL crew for organising everything and particularly Mark, Darren, Dave and Simon for picking up and delivering back my machines. Cheers.

Brilliant weekend, really well set up I thought! Big praise for the Northern Lights Crew who pulled this together - great effort guys.

Good location & venue, I was also able to spend some time with the missus as a Blackpool tourist :-)

Definately a fun weekend that works well with the gaming expo

Didnt actually overdose on playing pinball myself but was happy to see all the expo attendees get stuck in. Some of the video/gaming guys were blown away with the pins - I heard a few raving about the pinball alley to their friends

Overall, a huge success i reckon

well done again guys :-)

Have to add my thanks to the crew for putting on such a great show. Lots of great pins to play - huge gratitude to all who brought their pins and allowed us to play them too. Great weekend with great pins and great people. the NLPS organisers can rightly be very proud. There were loads of kids playing the machines, lots of buzz from the Replay crowd and a cracking night on the Saturday. Bring on the Slam!

agreed, great effort by the pinball crew. i had a great weekend and met some faces old and new. hopefully i will meet up with some of you guys for the scottish open. thanks for a great weekend.

Gah! Couldnt make this one due to family obligations taking over. Good to hear it was a success though!

found beer for £1.58 a pint - nice too.Massive barm cakes for a few quid.

Pin area was packed nearlly all the time-went down a treat.

Hard work - especially the setting down of machines late Sun night, after a beer/JD/Tequilla binge night before.Should know better at my age that a quad tequilla aint a good idea

www.ukpinball.com has just had its first update since the show.

Updates include comp winners, complete list of table loaners, event supporters and video links.

The site wont be updated again until the new year.

Thanks everyone for their support

Some good coverage of the event in this months retro gamer magazine. Lots of love for pinball, and a full feature planed for future issue

Good to see the pinball machines where well liked again.

Everyone I spoke to about the pinball machines where totally bowled over by them and they said it was the best part of the show. Now that coming from the arcade guy's is one big complement.

Roll on 2012. But first......................................... Its Slammer Time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I'd of missed it - 5 minutes inside and I was aching for death. I may use the family obligations line myself next year.....

Perhaps next time they can call it the Bally Williams pinball show (so as to avoid any possibilities of people turning up to play games that aren't in every collectors front rooms). I was bored seeing the same games over and over again!

I could have gone to half the peoples houses on this forum and played all those games. You know the ones - All under covers, leg protectors, highly polished - and all the same themes. No wonder Cactus Canyon, Circus Voltaire et al are all so bloody rare - every collector has five in their shed.

And no, I have no intentions of lending any of my games to the show for people to touch them - I don't want to get them home and catch anything from all the smelly people (with even worse social skills) I ran into while I was there. Jees people - a bit of deoderant perhaps would have been good?

My games = my right NOT to lend them out. If I'm then not 'welcome' at a community show - then don't charge entry at the door or publicise it.

Well done to Chris Poibug who I believe represented Gottlieb at the show. I could thank everybody who represented B/W, but I fear I'd run out of space.

Yes, after the event my other half DID leave me - the show was the final ticket. Yes I am bitter about it.

I also spoke to a few people who were also bored to tears - although I'll not say who they are as they're all too busy saying what a triumph the show was and how good it was.

No offence to the hours of unpaid work all you people put into it. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it. You enjoyed it, and that's great. This forum is all about speaking my mind, and I've spoken it.

Shame I couldn't make it - due to family stuff

Will has been raving about it. Nxt year for sure.

And yeah ....South Coast Slam ........ coming at ya

I personally took a Recel - Fortune, a Sega and a Bally , you must have missed the 1st two.

Go on get it off your chest, you'll feel better, still single but better
ohmy-1.png

I must of - perhaps it was the other half moaning about what the hell was she doing in this hell hole that did it.....

So, can we have a complete list of machines - or better still, a percentage breakdown of Gottlieb or Sega to Bally and Williams?

It was still the Bally Williams pinball show - with about 2 random ones thrown in!

LMFAO. I can 100% relate to that. You can always leave it to the missus to point out every single bloody fault with anything.... I bet she went mental when she found out there were no rose petals beneath her toes either?? haha.

She went mental when she found out our trip to Blackpool had something to do with machines that I'm not even allowed to keep in the house - although the way she described the place and the people while screaming at me was pure comedy gold. Of course, posting these comments may offend 99% of the people here.....

A few of us have been there. I got fired just because I went to play in the royal madness tournament rather than stopping in and watching something on TV.

Go Figure

BallyWilliamsSuck > Those 99% of people here likely think you need to grow up and not post on forums like a teenager, which I'm sure you're not. Aching for death? People bored to tears? Stop exaggerating...., you're the only person I've heard complain.

My opinion isn't valid then?

My opinion is MY opinion. If you don't like it, perhaps you shouldn't read the forum.

If my intention was to have a go at the organisers, I wouldn't have said "No offence to the hours of unpaid work all you people put into it. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it. You enjoyed it, and that's great".

How do you know how many people I talked to that agreed with me? And if they didn't like the show, how many people are going to come on and say so? Not many I assume. I simply said the selection of games was biased towards ones I don't like - and thus I didn't actually play on any games. At all. I stayed about 20 minutes. I talked to a few friends who also said they couldn't wait to go, but couldn't for various reasons.

My post simply pointed out how I felt, and I'm sorry if you need to voice your opinion on what goes off in my head......

Before anyone says "if you don't like it, do one yourself" - well, I don't want to do that either. Just because I didn't find it as I wanted to, doesn't mean to prove a point that I should host my own show, does it?

I'm glad everyone else loved the show.. But why do I need to grow up? Surely a bit of constructive critism is useful?

Of course it is, but without the need for exaggeration and linking from other threads with your comment of 'it's hotting up in the Northern Lights thread'. That's just screams 'give me attention, I want to make a meal of something'. It reminds me of ****-stirring posts by kids on other forums that get referred to as trolls.

I simply said the selection of games was biased towards ones I don't like - and thus I didn't actually play on any games. At all. I stayed about 20 minutes..

Now that could be constructive criticism put forward in a mature manner. See the difference? No exaggerations or references to the 'BW' Show, odour and/or social skills of the Fylde community. If you're so opinionated and disliking of people outside your bubble, why not just stay indoors by yourself?

... and yes, if you want it to be better, donate your non BW pins. You remind me of my mother in law in the car, sitting on the back seat telling me how I should drive when she can't or won't drive herself.

If ya want a list of the machines they are in Pinball News article.

FYI there were:-

Gottliebs - 4- Cow Poke,Jack In The Box,my Volcano and HH

Stern/Sega/DE -4- A13,Batman,SM,BBH

Recel - 1-Fortune

Zaccaria - 1-Aerobatics

so over 1/6th were NOT Bally/Wms 17.5% of the working games were non B/W

Sadly mate it is dictated by what people let us have.I brought 3 games, cos I thought they would be enjoyed, they were,INC the BRun.

I know you are trying to get a rise by saying " I don't want to get them home and catch anything from all the smelly people (with even worse social skills) I ran into while I was there"

You have machines are on site which will have far more germs on mate!

Mind you I know what you are saying re some people-it's the vid game people:eek:

I enjoyed helping run the show as I saw all the enjoyment non pinheads got out of the pins-gave me a good buzz in fact:)

Also the "pressie"I got and the £1.58 beer were ace too;)

BTW sell me some more Gtlb sys 80's then Jamie!!
