For some reason when shooting wolves on video mode I don't get any gunshot sound effect.

I didn't even know it was meant to make a gunshot noise until John B played it ! (His beady eye notices everything!)

Everything on the game works fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Oh boy, you're in for so much more than just gunshots if it is what i think it is.

Look for Family Mode at A.2.43 and bin it off...

OK, I hit the adjustment menu full of excitement and optimism......but no change. Family mode was off. I put it on and off a few times, tried a factory reset etc but no change.

Any other ideas?

No......don't know why the heck I never thought of that. Thanks, will give that a go.

I was thinking ROM too......but don't really have any experience of these. Can one sound effect just be "missing" from it?

No idea but maybe a rom is faulty but you've only noticed the obvious missing sound effect but theres others too that are missing but just not noticed? Either way @Paul is the man for new roms if needed....

Brilliant, thanks. I will drop him a message.

OK, so by way of an update........

Paul very kindly sent me new sound ROMs. I installed all 3 chips (well actually, a knowledgeable and very helpful meember on here did!) and unfortunately it made no difference at all.

Its showing L-1 on boot up (which is what it did before?. Does anyone have any other ideas we could try?

From what we can see, the gunshot sound is all that is missing. Going through the test menu it doesnt appear to let you test the gunshot sound, just the video mode music. Can any other BSD owners check and see if you can actually test the gunshot sound effect in test menu mode?

Hi mate
Have you tried reseating the ribbon cable or changing it on the sound board? I have had weird problems with dodgy ribbon cables in the past that didn’t make sense.
Im pretty sure I have a sound board from my old BSD somewhere as I put pinsound in it, you can borrow it to see if it fixes the problem if the ribbon cable idea doesn't work.
Just let me know and I will look for it and send it.

Was gonna say exactly this. As noddy as it sounds ribbon cables & ASIC reseat too

Will check for you tomorrow

Ok I checked you can't test it.

I'm also on L-1.

Honestly this is the perfect excuse to get Pinsound plus. 😆

Thanks for checking, much appreciated. You might be right on the pinsound. I will need to do my homework on that......know nothing about it or what's involved.

Tried ribbon cables off and on etc. Still nowt. Might try and get another ribbon cable next.

Thanks for offer of the board Dave, I might just take you up on that to rule it in/out.

Off to Google pinsound now.....

Pinsound is dead easy honestly.

Remove the ribbon and power cables to the board
Remove the old sound board
Install the new Pinsound plus board
Install the ribbon cables and power

Now the next step gets even easier if you want to skip some steps

Buy the board from retro arcade Specialists along with a USB drive from them. Let them know in the notes for what game and they'll preload the USB for you with the games soundtrack.

Alternatively go to pinsounds website, navigate to the Pinsound community page and download your preferred track (original or custom)

Load onto a USB drive formatted in FAT32 format. You can leave it in zip format and the board will unpack it and convert it for you. It will just take longer to do.

Once converted and unpacked an audio queue will sound and voice instructions telling you to reboot.

Job done, enjoy.
