Toxic frog

Hi

I have a no fear and the reply knocker has been disconnected. I have been told I cant just reconnect it as some dip switch settings will need adjusting. This is also confirmed by the lack of test for this relay in the test menu.

My NF is a very early prototype machine. The hurry up light never worked from the factory and you don't have to hold the front door close pins to test the relays (was told you normally have to do this for safety). So its possible that the relay knocker has also never worked from factor?

Sorry if any of my pinball lingo isn't correct.

Thanks for any help.
James

Thank you will check to see what its on now.

What is the reply knocker for apart from to make a loud bang? Just a gimmick?

Here is how mine is set now? Which country is this? For USA which two are on? The ones labeled 1 and 2? The switch is up said down so just wanted to make sure I'm right before I try.

I can't work out what my settings were originally on the photo above it doesn't seem to match any even Europe.

Hi, James,

UK-spec WMS games at that time were shipped with a coin meter connected instead of the knocker, so it probably has not been used until now. Using the territory setting switches (earlier games had zero-ohm jumpers instead) to install USA settings seems to me like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, simply to configure the knocker. As long as the software chip will allow selection of 'Custom Pricing' & 'Custom Door' (U.S. domestic programs sometimes don't), the adjustment 'Coin Meter Units' (for knocker/meter selection) becomes visible in the Pricing Adjustments. Setting it to 'Off' brings up the knocker instead of the meter.

At one time, Williams games used to knock when coins were inserted, or a credit posted, and their System 11 games could use it to reinforce a 'Test Report', but the only 90's game I can think of that uses it other than as a replay signal is The Addams Family, during its 'Séance' mode. (get the auto-correct, putting that poncy bit on the 'e')
