No Fear column 1 switch matrix issue

Testing switches on my No Fear after putting playfield back in after total restoration and I have an issue with switches 15 to 18 in column 1 of the switch matrix. They are not registering.

Testing continuity and I have none from switch 14 (plum bob tilt) to 15 (shooter lane) which is the first one in the chain not working.

Switch 15 is daisy chained to 16, then on to 17 and then 18 and I have continuity from 15 through 18.

However switch 15 only has one wire to it and it looks like it has never had more than one (no obvious break or a loose wire hanging down in the immediate vicinity) so does not appear to have ever been daisy chained to 14.

However the first switch in that column (11 - Ball Launch) also only has one wire to it (from 12 - Start Button) and I thought all switches in a column were daisy chained so there should only be one switch that only has one wire (the one at the end of the chain) right?

Anyone have a photo of shooter lane switch wiring on No Fear they could post for me please?

Thanks

Andy

Check diodes, and also check the switches are connected properly.

You will find the switches in the cabinet are wired correctly, and these go to the CPU on seperate cables.

You should have continuity between the cab switches and the playfield switches as they parallel up on the CPU board connectors.

Bet you have a broken wire between the CPU on that column (or a wire has come out the IDC connector).

So the cabinet switches are not daisy chained with the playfield switches in that same column? So it could be right that I have a single wire to the ball launch button and a single wire on the ball launch switch?

None of the cabinet switches in that column (Start, Ball Launch, Plum Bob Tilt) which are what I would call standard sized arcade switches as opposed to the playfield microswitches have diodes fitted - is that correct?

You were right (of course!). IDC connector at J207 was slightly split meaning column 1 wire was not making a good connection. Must have got damaged when I had the playfield out or, more likely, my heavy handed son pushed it on a bit firm and split it when he helped me reconstruct the thing :)

Cheers!
