V 01.85 - 11-March-2020
=======================

- Added a new skill shot rule:
- Activate by holding in the left flipper button and plunging the ball
to the top lanes.
- The left orbit up-post will remain DOWN and the normal skill shot will
be disabled.
- Either lane will award 1M + 250K for each additional skill shot made
(old or new).
- Whiplash multiball autofire time increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
- Added additional information to the background display effect for WHIPLASH
multiball.
- Whiplash multiball jackpots increased from 250K to 350K + an additional
12.5K per shot made, up to a maximum of 500K.
- Added new effects for WHIPLASH multiball 1/2-way jackpot (the first award
that is collected at the WHIPLASH targets). Formerly, this required two
shots for 500K and 1M. Now, this requires one shot for 2.5M.
- Added new effects for WHIPLASH multiball super jackpot (the second award
that is collected at the WHIPLASH targets). The score has been increased
from 3M to 5M.
- Fixed an issue with the speech for HIGH SCORE TO DATE that would cause
some of the phrases to be repeated back to back.
- Added speech for the flipper buttons in ATTRACT MODE.
- Added speech at game start.
- Added a setting that allows the IRON MAN mode (FAST SCORING, 2X SCORING,
HURRY-UP) to be started when READY during MULTIBALL. The current default
is OFF (i.e. to not allow the mode to start; this is the same behavior as
before).
- Fixed an issue where the background lamp effect for the IRON MAN mode
start ready (the pulsing lights on the IRON MAN targets) would run when
the mode had been qualified but could not be started (during multiball).
- USA default game pricing changed to USA 11 (1/$1 3/$2).
- Added an EXTRA BALL for completing the IRON MAN standup targets. The
current default (adjustable) is 2 completions.
- Fixed errors in text and limit values of adjustments.
- Added a half-way bonus for the MARK SUITS. The bonus is lit after the
third MARK SUIT and awarded at the SPINNER.
- Reduced the number of WHIPLASH TARGETS needed for subsequent WHIPLASH
MULTIBALLS from +5 hits to +1 hit, as an adjustment.
- Added a maximum number of hits for WHIPLASH, as an adjustment.
- SHIELD lanes now light S.H.I.E.L.D. (MYSTERY) after the lanes during
JERICHO MISSILE MAYHEM have been completed.
- Added high score tables for BOGEY, IRON MAN, WAR MACHINE, IRON MONGER,
WHIPLASH, DRONES, and DO OR DIE MULTIBALL.
- Game over effects are terminated when entering test mode.
- Synced the knocker to run with replay/special effects.
- Renamed music and speech volume adjustments (attenuation).
- Fixed a bug that was causing the Magnet device driver to ignore the
"disabled" adjustment.
- Fixed switches from showing up in the tech alert when they are not
broken. These include:
TOURNAMENT START BUTTON
START BUTTON
LEFT COIN
CENTER COIN
RIGHT COIN
FOURTH COIN
FIFTH COIN
DEDICATED #15 (NOT USED)
TILT PENDULUM
SLAM TILT (OPTIONAL)
TICKET NOTCH
TEST ESCAPE, MINUS, PLUS, ENTER
DIP #1 - #8
- Updated to new versioning scheme.

Doubt it probably because there doing another run and hope this encourages people to buy it

Lyman had an Ironman on loan from a pinsider after the original Vault release, doubt Stern knew they where going to do another Vault run back then.

He also said in December 2018 on head2head podcast he would like to go back to Ironman and polish up some stuff he didn’t have time to do originally.

Only thing that’s for certain is, never say never with Lyman.

It’s great when code updates happen. Can totally refresh a game.

It’s fantastic that they are revisiting some of the older titles.
agreed. Especially those they need!
i like IM as brutal game but something misses for me, deeper rules. The wizard mode is also unreachable for my skills and when I understood it I sold it.

I doubt they (Stern) are revisiting older titles, this update came because Lyman has wanted to revisit Ironman code and make changes/polish up things he didn’t originally have time to do.

He mentioned revisiting the code as early as Dec 2018 and not too long after that got an Ironman loaned to him from a nearby pinsider to work on the code at home.

Doubt we will see any quarantine code updates from Lonnie.

He also mentioned TRON in the same podcast.

Yeah he had something crazy like 3 months to get the code developed and completed back in the Ironman/Tron days, think he mentions that time frame on that podcast as the reason for wanting to go back to some of his older games and do things he didn’t have time for previously.

It will be interesting to see what else he potentially comes out with while we are on lockdown.

The second time in my life that I ever played an Iron Man, I only had Do or Die Multiball left to get; I cleared everything else. I'd even managed to beginners-luck bull**** my way into having a multiball during Jericho.

Definitely my kinda game. But seeing a new code release for it now is quite the surprise. Lyman has his good reputation for a reason I suppose!

Is this a new record??

For the longest period of time between original machine creation (2010) and a manufacturer-supplied software update (2020)? i.e. 10yrs apart.

Metallica was 2013 release and late 2018 code update (5yrs).

I guess you could class the CGC remakes are having longer periods, but they're entirely new machines, on new hardware that's emulating the old software.

What about LOTR and the LE version release?

Someone please correct me!

@Monkeyboypaul - the CGC remakes do not use the latest Bally Williams code for AFM, MM or MB.

New code is always interesting. Sometimes it is useful running visual pinball as you can try the new software out even if you do not own the game (except on Spike sterns).....

Original release code

But I think I have good news - I might have worked out away to replace the ROM on the CHC games. Won’t be able to test until later next week but looks very promising.

So what is CGC next game?😁

If it’s not cactus canyon then don’t know what it is. There is enough evidence that points it to it being that game. But this Ben heck announcement kinda makes certainty uncertain.

They still haven’t got the MMR REs out and they are almost 6 months late now.

Very much doubt they will revisit any pre SAM games. Burning EPROMS is a pain in the ass.

What Ben Heck has announced?
why not BBB the next?

1.85 is good!

Not revolutionary, but brings Iron Man to life a bit more, without making it too easy... because the left slingshot and outlane can't be fixed in code! BASTARD THINGS.

Just hope the ColorDMD update follows shortly afterwards as there are a few new animations in there, like the Whiplash Super Jackpot.

I believe Eric is already working on it.

have they given any reason?

You’d expect them to take whatever PPS licenses to them, which again, I’d assume is the latest most up to date, feature rich and least buggy version. What am I missing...?

they quote licensing issues. But I think its a case of they didn't know any better.
