While we've been waiting for the Transformers in-depth review, we've gone ahead and done one on MarsaPlay's New Canasta game. With full LED lighting, contactless switches and an LCD screen, is it the future of pinball?

from playing them at the pinball party, it did seem that they were lacking the final polish on the software side - the lack of actual screen effects as noted in the article, but they also seemed to crash far too frequently, one or the other was usually displaying something odd on the screen.



did like the high score photo option though, not that I would get a high score to try it out with!
 
The biggest problem I found was that it was just far too dull for what it cost. It was reminiscent of an EM machine but with the price tag to match a full on modern DMD. Just didn't add up for me I'm afraid.
 
When I played these two games at the Pinball Party, the main thing I remember about them was how odd the dynamics of the ball felt on the plastic playfield. When the ball hit the top of the inlane/outlane posts, it just stopped dead in it's tracks. Horrible!

The LCD screen was good, pity it was not used very well.
 
It's one of the games I played most frequently in Ireland, partly to get use to playing it but also because it is quite challenging to get anything near a decent score.

Very short games times too meaning you weren't left hanging around for others to rack up a big (!) score.

The one down side of this particular game is in the rules where one particular shot (if made) effectively wiped the floor with everyone elses game...
