Don't know where to post this, or what the done thing is, but I've been meaning to upload some pics of my little games room for a while now. I finally said goodbye to one half of a twin game that was taking up a lot of space today so had a bit of a tidy up and snapped a couple of pics. They're in the gallery: http://www.pinballinfo.com/forums/useralbums/current-office-games-room.17/view

I need to give the BK2K a good strip down and rebuild so going to play the others for a week or two before the place get's trashed again. Hence figured I'd snap a few pics now. Still a bit of tidying up to do yet and I could do with some different lighting - like Greg's rope lights that he has or something, as it's not very playable with no lights, and the tube lights are great for fixing but useless for playing.

Have had a lot of these games for a very long time now (the Obvious one aside!). BK2K and Gorf in 2000 for instance, SW 2002/3 and so on. Asteroids Deluxe is technically for sale and I could squeeze 1 more pin or 2 or 3 more vids if I wanted but at the moment it's nice to have bit of breathing space as it's been pretty cramped at various times for years now.

I also have a lovely condition Asteroids Cabaret (mini) that's currently down at Rav's place, and also in the living room there's a rare as fook Tron tabletop - one of only 2 that I know of in the UK as they were never released in this country.

I should probably take a pic of my repair room too one day. But the room's a bit small for taking pics!

Martin.

Nice one. I always like looking at pics of people game rooms. I love the old arcade cabs. Currently got my house on

The Market so I can buy a place with man den potential!!! Of course the wife thinks it's for other reasons!!!!

Does your SW cab have silver writing on the cab?

Congrats on a cool den though. I currently only have room for one pin in my kitchen :-( I'm awaiting the delivery of my new Congo pin and am very excited, but in the mean time am Pinless :-(

I guess if you've got the space, you'll fill it and that's when it really gets pricey, especially if you're as impatient as me an have to fill it, like yesterday!!!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the SW has signatures all over both sides from actors that were in the various films. I've got photographic provenance for all of them I think too. Now I realise that's a tough call and you can't please everyone as there will always be some pinball fans that don't really care for it, and will just think that the pin has been defaced. But you find a die-hard Star Wars fan and they'd love it. Then of course, if you bump into a Star Wars fan that loves pinball, then you're away!! Totally irrelevant mind since there's no intention of selling it - I love the pin, and it holds precious memories for me...

Basically, I used to be a committee member of the 'Exewing Fundraisers', a group that used to do collecting for various charities and stuff, and then once a year would put on what became a very well respected (and quite big) Star Wars convention down in Honiton, Devon. I think I was involved with the last 4 or 5 years worth? I actually wasn't a mega huge SW fan, but I did like it. I mostly got involved for the monthly socialising down the pub at the meetings, and the events were either the icing on the cake or the price my body had to pay, depending on which way you looked at it. The bonus was, I got to meet and greet all the guests that we had at the event.

Sadly, there's no A-List US stars in the list (Carrie Fischer, Mark Hammil, Harrison Ford, etc.) as we simply couldn't afford the expenses to get them over and Carrie and Mark at least, back then, didn't do conventions - they all have since, at least once. But all the UK circuit ones that I can think of apart from Anthony Daniels (C3PO) are on there.

I've got some wonderful pics of Warwick Davis playing the pin (standing on my toolbox!), as well as some other notable ones. Sadly, a few fond memories of guests that are no longer with us too such as Micheal Sheard (the guvnor).

Anyway, sorry - I'm digressing big time

Actually, the memories are becoming a bit of an issue! All but one of the machines that I have now have some kind of "can't get rid of that one because..." and that's becoming a problem as there's barely any room to manoeuvre now on trying new games. One day, I'll end up back in an office again though, then the desk can go.

Wow, that's an awesome story. I'm a huge SW fan and I don't think it's defacing the cab, no different to steve Richie signing a translight. It's one of a kind and I'd kill for it. Like you say though its priceless to you so who cares what others say.

I recall a documentary Justin Lee Collins done a while back where he tried to get the cast back together but most of them hate one another and the likes of mark hamill and Harrison ford have an astronomical appearance fee.

I just think it's awesome warrick Davis played it, the blokes a legend.

Cool provenance though, thanks for sharing it

Hah! yeah, I remember watching that - though I found it difficult to watch as I really didn't like JLC's style, but so much of it was a bit of a case of "been there done that". Apart from we did it legitimately, we didn't go round sneaking after people. And I knew right from the start of the program that he wouldn't succeed, and why! Good viewing all the same though.

The UK guys all like each other and get on, bar one. And that's the one I don't have. I think we've had a lot of the other's on stage at the same time - UK guys again.

I need to check out how "Public", public is for the photo's. Or maybe do something on my website? The reason I've never put any of the photos online is that I think I'd need to get permission from the guests involved, and that might be difficult. It's even remotely possible that some may want fees, though in reality, I don't think any of them would be like that. I think they'd see it as good publicity? The whole question is part of the reason I've never done it.

One bit of advice - when you manage to get a bit of a 'den' space, don't do what I did and make it your work space too. I really don't play my games as much as I should because I'm up there programming all day and once I've been to the house for dinner, I can rarely be bothered to drag myself back up there again - it's an outbuilding at the end of a 120' garden. I should swap my repair room and office. But then I'd never leave the house at all!

Very cool man cave Guddler, loving the pics and as another huge SW fan it was great to read your story. I'm also a bit of an old console collector so very cool to see you've got a Vectrex. Is it in good nick and have you got all the games?

Thanks! It's in good nick as I used to repair them at one point. I did a few for people but it turned out it wasn't viable. Due to the weight of them, and my location in the country it was £18 postage, each way before you even started and people just winced (understandably). Horrible things to work on mind, don't think they were really ever designed to be taken apart and worked on, despite there being a service manual and cart.

I don't have all the games, no. I think I got all the games that I really considered that I wanted. Maybe I should try and get some of the remaining ones some day? Trouble is, there's new ones coming out these days, and they're not cheap considering I don't really play it. I had a 2600 woody and a load of carts but it literally was only ever played twice so rather than stick it all up in the loft I gave it all away to a fellow collector. I would have done the same with the Vectrex but I have to say that like a lot of my stuff, when I do take the time to play that, I really do like it, so I decided it wasn't going anywhere

I always considered getting into writing a game for it myself but too many hobbies and too little time just meant that I never did.

Also got some nice BBC stuff but that's all packed away at the moment while I concentrate on other things. I do have plans for a game for that but that's probably years and years away. Maybe in 20 years when I'm retired and I have all the time in the world!

It's a great game! I remember it always used to fascinate me because it spoke randomly - seemingly whenever you walked past it, though I know that's not the case.

Removing the work stuff is in the back of my mind but I don't think I can afford to rent office space.

Asteroids - such a simple, classic game. If I had more space would love to get it

Ah,the old"if I had space"

that's my problem nowadays:mad:

would love space for a Ferrari 355 twin and two more pins

Ah, indeed... If i had the space there's probably not a single vid or pin I'd have got rid of. Certainly not the GnR, Shadow or ToM, that's for sure. Though in fairness, only the GnR went for space reasons. Shadow funded a trip abroad to fetch other games and ToM funded a new car. Needs must and all that! But I've had tonnes of vids come and go over the years and most of those go for space reasons.

I really enjoyed GnR down at Special When Lit. Got a massive score last time and it started to make me pine for it!
