Unfortunately continued unemployment means I need to release funds I have tied up and that means my pinball machines will have to be thinned out.

I am offering the forum my Getaway. I have owned her for almost exactly 6 years. I gave her a complete playfield stripdown, re-rubber and re-bulb as when I collected it I thought it was a special midnight driving version, everything was black and very dark!!!!

Good things:
- Cabinet has very little fade and is pretty tidy for an original machine.
- No signs of wear on playfield.
- The boardset all seems to be original. It all works, including the red spinning light on top.
- Has been very reliable for me.

Only bad things (and here I'm being picky):
- Small amount of damage to front and coindoor where a lockbar had been fitted.
- Supercharger plastic broken on base of right leg. I made a metal brace to fix this and protect it from future airballs!
- One tiny scratch in translight (shown in one of the flickr pics).
- Plate, which the backbox knocker hits, is missing.

I include a copy of the manual, a genuine schematic manual, a product flyer and a L_5 ROM if buyer wants to upgrade from L_2 installed.

As I need this to fund my life I shall ask a top-end price, for one of the best 20+ year old machines I have seen and I'm looking for offers around £1200. (Another good condition machine recently sold for £1279 on ebay and that didn't even have a working supercharger.) Machine is sold as seen and the sale confers no rights to support, I would prefer buyers to see machine working before sale.

Buyer to collect from near Cambridge, or could deliver for an agreed fee. Would prefer cash on collection, but would consider other payment methods, but any non-cash payment would have to clear before I let the machine go.

Contact me through here or call me on 0759 followed by 719 and finally 9610.

Thanks for looking,
Paul

No love for my Getaway :( Is it too expensive? Or has everyone already got one?

Looks to be a nice condition HS2 to me but as you say, your at the top end of the price bracket for one of these. Maybe put up some close up pics of the pf with the glass off and a shot of the supercharger repair...might generate some more interest. Tbh though I'm surprised you've not had offers, HS2 is a great game and yours looks like a good one :)

It is on my list to buy but looked pricey. I played several at expo and enjoyed it a lot but went for a 'The Shadow' that was for sale on the day.

Will be interested at a lower price in a few months if you still have it!

Its a decent game, and your price is not bad really. Its always been a sub £1K game in my eyes but I see no reason one couldn't sell for £1200 if its nice and plays fast.

For info it was me that pushed that one on eBay up to £1279 (and still lost). That was because (supercharger aside) it was a total minter.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Williams-Pinball-Machine-The-Getaway-Highspeed-2-/330990174960

I went and had a look at it and chatted with the seller who said he'd asked the person who supplied it to get him an "as-new" one a couple of years previously. It looked like the guy delivered on the request.

Cabinet and head looked like they were painted/ decalled yesterday (they even spray painted the inside of the cabinet black before refitting the playfield and parts for some reason - looked good though). The playfield and moving parts were in mint condition with obvious only mild home use since the refurb/ rebuild.

I figured the broken supercharger was acceptably fixable and might be a good intro to pin repair/ maintenance for me. This one issue was (for me) outweighed by the superb condition of the machine as a whole. Given all that I bid more than I would for a good condition, but with 20-odd years wear, example of the same pin.

£1279 was the highest bid. Did he not sell it you at that price?

Others in not quite as good nick as the one RGV posted went for £905 and £911. New buyers not in the know may be swayed by those auction results and the lack of high res pics with the glass off.

That said though, it really does look like a VERY nice HS2. Good luck with your sale.

Hi Rog,

Thanks for the useful background on that particular machine. You are more than welcome to come and look at and compare mine, and make a considered offer if it suits you. My machine plays perfectly and is fast (too fast for me to be honest - I am not a very good player).

I also have a mint coin door that could be swapped over if the holes in this one really offend anyone. I just never found them worth the effort involved.

I will take some more pictures of the playfield (glass off) if it helps for people.

Cheers,
Paul

Unfortunately I'm out of room at the moment. I've since picked up a "No Fear" which satisfies my "Steve-Ritchie-Designed-Holy-Crap-How-Fast-Is-This?" needs for now and I'm about to install another 2 machines I've picked up from the NLP Expo :)

Good luck with the sale. From the pic it does look like a nice example of a very fun pin. Playfield pics would definitely be a plus if I was in the market for one though.

(@Rus121 - Sorry, I meant that my bid pushed the buyers price up to 1279. My high price was 20 or 50-odd quid below that)

Paul.
Sorry to hear you have to sell because of the situation you find yourself in.
Hope you get more than what you want and I hope you are soon back in work and saving for your replacment machine.
D.

Thanks for the support all.

I have now added playfield pics (without glass) and some brutal extreme close-ups showing how little wear this beauty has :) All added to the original flickr folder.

If there are no takers for this one, I also have a Roadshow and CFTBL I could be persuaded to sell, but I haven't had them long enough to really try them out yet. (I am a slow player!), also not sure yet what the values for these are. They are not as mint as this or my ultra beloved Twilight Zone, although if I get any more left side drains from her she might get sold!

Cheers,
Paul

I'd love a HS2 but due to no money can only trade at the moment. I guess you're looking for cash only

I honestly don't think you will have a problem selling it. Its so nice i'm seriously fighting the urge to buy it myself.....

Can you upload some pictures of the damage to the front of the cab please

Just taken this one (flash photos are brutal aren't they?!). Basically looks like a hasp was mashed onto it and someone had a go at levering it off at some point. The mark level with the top of the getaway logo (and close to leg) is gouged into the timber and would need filling and sanding for a pristine cab. It also looks like some tiny part of the red/pink of the original cab artwork remains. To me it looks like a something was stuck over it then peeled most of it off when it was removed, probably when the hasp came off. This is like CSI pinball!

That almost looks like its been painted over with black, have you tried rubbing it with some alcohol to see what happens?
You sir are Mr CSI Pinball!

10 minutes of frantic wrist action (ooh-er missus) later:

This shot also highlights the damage a bit more :(

If someone wanted a minter, then as pinmuncher says, a new front decal (can you get them on their own?) and a replacement coin door and this would be a pretty tidy keeper for someone. (I'm almost selling this to myself now!).

I wouldnt bother, its looks ok now to be fair, i thought that black stuff was hammerite and thought it had a big hole where its been forced open, yes you can get the front decals seperately.

Wonder why the operator sprayed it black, maybe it was a masking attempt gone wrong.

Anyway good luck with the sale :)

You can from onestoppinball I'm pretty sure he will sell any combo of decals for a machine

Last chance for a real pinhead to get a nice machine for £1100. If no interest here I'll put it out to the wolves on ebay. Sniff!
