More Tamiya Goodness

I picked up a good old fashioned grasshopper for cheap the other month. So intend on building that soon.
Apparently euro car parts were selling the kits for £45 last week.

I quite fancy one of those king yellow school bus things

Yeah i've decided to pick up new kits when i see them as they dont make them forever, kind of do them in runs. I fancy a fire dragon next (if can get one)

Jim,
is that ready to run or do you need a radio? I fancy something like that over xmas also!

Neil.

Nice one Neil, perfect thing i find to relax the mind! This is just the kit, so you would need speed controller, and usual rc gear. Even though this is 1:24 scale it says you can use std tamiya electronic speed controller and std servos and rc gear i think

There's all sorts of tamiya kits around though with re-release stuff, so plenty of choice if you fancy a regular 1:10 model

:)

not for ages no. The banking crisis killed off alot of racing and the guys I used to race with most of the shops going out of business and the tracks getting stabbed in the back by bastard neighbours complaining about the noise or just the sheer effort of keeping tracks going; I actually managed to defend a noise abatement order on a track that had been there for 15 years and it stayed open for while longer. @mission65 was one of the racers I raced back in the day and like pinball I'm sure I beat him then too LOL. I went to the US nationals in vegas at Boulder City Raceway - see the video and after competing there I took over running the outlaw trucks (truggy) and we managed to do 20+ huge events (100+ runners) a year at some great tracks. Ultimately though the BRCA wanted to control everything and I didn't have time for their crap so broke off from them and ran my own events which went really well. But work stuff meant it was harder and harder for me and despite a load of great guys helping me keep my stuff going it started to become less enjoyable, so I got some guys who wanted to take over to up to speed on how to run races etc and gave them all my racing gear, timing gear the whole shcbang! and then let them get on with it. I occasionally pop up to see them race on Sundays. top folks and many great weekends.

Hadn't had an RC car since I was a kid, but seeing this thread prompted me to get a Hornet kit back in January which I've gotten around to building with some of the enforced staying at home.
Really nice kit to build.

Only problem is now I want to build another one - got my eye on a 4WD one next

good man, yes building these kits is great fun and a welcome distraction often

I'm tempted by a Hotshot, the Super Hotshot looks cool too, but not once you at the radio gear it's getting a bit pricey......

I've built a Hornet and a Hotshot this year and enjoyed them both massively.

I don't need another one, but the 4WD Impreza is tempting me........
Yeah I don’t need any of these but I have 4 now!! 2 car and 2 monster truck style

I decided I needed an indoor racing car and an outside one!! Ha ha even though I mostly just like putting them together and then just shelf them 😁

I think if you like doing practical things then these kits are very good for a relaxing Xmas/new year activity

Was tempted to get this one but I already have a car based on it in the garage that I don’t use because I know I will end up smashing it up as I drive like a man possessed.
Same would happen to the model no doubt☺️
Very tempting though like the others above😎

Is anyone in for one of these

Hell yeah! Its the one i have been eager to pick up when it releases, those front drive shafts will be staying in the box, not an esky if it isn’t tail happy!

However I still need to get mine and my dad's 1:1 scale escort finished...bloody lockdown projects, reason space invaders is taking forever

I am going to confess that I never had a Tamiya as a kid.
I had a Kyosho Javelin and then raced a Turbo Optima Mid Special with various upgrades. Both were second hand so I never build one as a kid but repaired it and rebuilt it so many times.
I bought a new Monster Beetle in the last month before my daughter was due and built it before she was born. She came two weeks early so it was never properly painted but Big Beep Beep gets a good thrashing on the private road behind our house.
