MISSING BACKBOX KEY

Im off to look at a vector tommorow,but it's missing it's backbox key,are all bally/williams keys the same,I have one from my gorgar,but im not sure it will fit,is there an easy way to open the backbox?any tricks/tips that don't involve a hammer

Actually it might be useful if the backglass is no good.

Has the seller looked in the usual place i.e. in or around the coin door?

I've not tried this but looking at my EBD, it looks like you could feed a couple of 16" or so hooked rods (knitting needle sort) through the vents in the back corners of the box and pull on the front of the bar.

thanks for the replys,the trouble is it's not my machine,and the guy selling it isn't going to appreciate me prising it open and causing damage,I know the guy selling that one on ebay so indeed if I did need one I may be able to do a deal

if it all works and happy you will have to take the gamble-pay for it then try and break in.A screwdriver thru lock using a hammer will work,or be very risky and take it home with backbox on then do.
That is why i have kept all doubles of keys i have had over the years-prob have about 30 or 40 keys now

well after expecting lots of hassle,it was only on a 250 key,and I always carry one of those on my keyring,the machine came home with me

Can you pick it?

I lost the keys to my shed recently and didn't want to do any damage, so I had a go at picking the lock with two paper clips. It's a Yale type barrel lock - took about 5 mins, but was surprisingly easy. I suspect a pinball lock is even easier.

Where I use to rent a garage, an old lady would often tell me a story of the old VW that she had in a garage nearby that the key to the lock had been broken. 23 years that car sat in there, eventually she accepted my offer of help. 30 seconds to free up and pick the lock but I did use a proper set of picks.
