Hi folks, my TZ arrives in a couple of weeks and i want to put it next to my TAF. Would anyone be able to tell me how much space i need as i have a rather large sofa which has to go on the same wall.

If it wont fit i need to re-think my room but would rather have it sorted before it arrives.

I'm not worried about back box over hang just the width from the side cab of the first machine to the far side of the TZ.

I would like a minimal gap between back boxes but i will look on that as a luxury at the moment until i know what i am dealing with.

Thanks Adie

It really depends how tight the fit would be. Measure for the same floor space as your TAF. The TZ cabinet is wider but the backboxes are the same width and the backbox is the widest part of the machine. If two TAFs would fit in the space, move the TZ in. If not, buy a beanbag and sell the sofa!!

Adrian, i recommend the free software Google sketchup - measure your room, measure your sofa, then play with moving it all around virtually. I've 'made' about 200 virtual pins, including TAF and TZ, so you can try how it looks from all angles, walk through it, the lot.

if you send me the dimensions, i could do it for you in ten mins, it's easy after a bit of practice

Ok, the room is 12 ft wide and 16 ft long. The pin in on the 12ft wide wall and the sofa is 7ft 5". i am hopefully uploading thumbs of the room to give an idea of the layout, but if i mess up you still have the measurements.

And before you all say chuck everything else and fill it with pins, that is not really an option. Although she has said that is my room to do what i want with as long as i leave the main lounge alone, i don't really want to take the micky (hence why my arcade cab and fruit machine is being stored in the garage!)

Cheers Adie

ok, here is what you have so far -

and i reckon you could easily move the table in front of the telly, and put the TZ by the window like this:

but i really recommend you download the software and have a play for yourself, as now that i've modelled the room, i can move everything around easily to see what looks good where, are there are a hundred possible combinations. the good news is that with a 12 x 16 room, you have plenty of space. you could even do this:

it's always good to think about the future!

Wow! that's really good. I don't have to move the table, i can bin it as we never use it.

I will download this and have a play. I just did not really want to put the TZ next to the window as i worry about cab fade but i can swap them around i suppose.

I will still be looking to put them side by side though if there is any way possible.

Thanks for spending time on this, helps alot.

no worries dude. i didn't realise that they had to be next to each other, how's this?

ok so the sofa may stick out a bit in front of the doors to the garden, but so what

If I had not of put the TV slap bang in the middle of that wall they could have gone there, or if the doors to the room were in a different place......... why was i not into pinball before i built the extension!

What i need is a big hammer and a few bags of plaster and probably a good divorce lawer!!!

I've just had another shift of sofa up to wall and TAF upto the other wall and i've got 30 inches from the side of my TAF to the sofa, it will be tight but i think it's going to fit!!
