So the Maverick I have a loan of is acting up.
Typical as im hosting a league round on sunday.
I havent even opened the coin door since July and it acts up now of all times.

So I need help
I'll have time to look at it tomorrow but where to start with a sega?
It started last night firing a dirverter in attract mode.and I think the outhole was kicking.

I changed the batteries and played 1 or 2 games seemed fine.
Went to test it this evening and it booted, reset a few times and now nothing but GI.
I checked all cable in the head for burn and reseated most.

no leds on driver board so looks like voltage
Any advice?
Thanks

I know zero about segas.

But if you think it might be a voltage issue, do you have a multimeter so that you can check the boards using the touching points ?

I hosted this year and my previously bulletproof vector died the night before when my mate and i had a drunken game, that was a dead bridge rectifier. But it could be a myriad of things

Could you put out a plea for help to the attendees so someone more experienced could perhaps turn up an hour early with their tools to give it a look ?

Yea I can meter it no problem,
My cousin just dropped off his golden eye.unfortunately it's a different boardset.
Out for the evening now so can't do much .
Is tftc the same boardset I wonder?

Reseat all connectors as a start and see if that changes anything. If any look a bit corroded then clean them up as best you can. Not sure if Sega's have the equivalent of the WPC security chip but if them do then give that a press to make sure it's fully in.

The CPU is the same, though I can't remember if the power board is different as Maverick has the large display.

As already suggested I would definitely check voltages and connectors as first steps.

So the 5v is dead.popped in the my tftc one and it works.
Took the board off and checked the rectifier out of circuit.
Looks fine although it's been out before and someone's done a less than steller job on it but it check out fine.
Not much else on the board bat an Ic and the transitor.tranister checks our too.
Luckily bigian can bring a board for the day so pressure is off.
Gotta get a drawing for that board.

Just an update on this.
Looking at the board it was clear it had been butchered in the past.
BR replaced badly and the whole board reflowed with a warm Iron!

I suspected the voltage reg IC but went to change it and noticed a leaking cap.
C2,right beside the heatsink.Had a little puddle under it.
Replaced that and now all is good.

Yes that cap is common fail seen it twice now usually the giveaway is the bloated top! nice one though an easy fix
