I think I will go for these, the self adhesive Strips that you put on the wall behind the backboxes. I will need about 20m length.

Which are the led kits to go for pls ?

Thanks.

Tlc are good

Also they sell replacement receivers which are the bits that usually fail.

EBay has similar kits for cheaper from China but pain in the **** if faulty. Might be worth a larger cheaper order from overseas but I'd include a few spares if going that route. This is one colour that changes all the way around, I think in another thread someone was showing some fancier stuff, @kevlar perhaps?

they are the std leds the dream leds and controllers are the best and you can get them in the UK they strip of leds uses the 6803ic which is what you need and the controller to go with them. I will find you a link

The TLC model mentioned above looks like the kit I bought on eBay from a Chinese seller. I had repeated problems with the IR controllers. 50% failure rate. To be fair they always gave an instant refund or replacement but it was a nuisance. I fitted mine under the machines and found the sticky side wasn't adhesive enough to hold their weight so they are now stapled in place.

Yeah totally same here, that's why I'd go tlc over ebay if there's a store nearby.

+1 for the Dream rgb controlled strips as Kev linked to, see videos posted in Neils build thread.

Edit..here's a vid showing a lot of the selectable modes.

Correct me if I am wrong @kevlar but the effects you get on the dream controller you do not get with the ones from TLC @J.C.Rox mentioned (I have some of these and they look now were near as good as the dream ones!)

Correct kev, the standard type as shown in the tlc ad do things like fade and strobe so the whole length changes colour at the same time, it can't do all these chasing effects the dream controller does. The strip actually has small IC's along its length so it's not just the controller that's needed.

Yeah thats correct @kevlar but again this can only be done with with the IC6803 type strip LEDs and the dream controller not the standard addressable IC type led strip like the WS2812B - so it is important @DRD gets the correct ones

The correct term is smd leds not ic there endeth the lesson. I've just been using some smaller than a pin head but just as retina burning

Are you sure rudi ?? do you not mean SMD ie surface mount device??? the important bit is these need to be addressable LEDs ie with an IC controller next to each LED but for the dream controller to work they must be IC type 6803 as you can also get IC WS2812B, 2813 etc etc etc - someone correct me if I am wrong!!!

You can get non adressable SMD that dont have an IC the does the decoding and addressing

EDIT - should of said its a multicoloured minefield out there!!!
