Well, i appear to have 'acquired' a **** load of solenoids (SOLEN 121E16530 (with built in flyback diode))



And before i just bin them off on ebay i thought i'd see what they could be used for in terms of pinball mods and if anyone might fancy buying some.

Then i found this....

So... who wants a set of 12 of these bad boys? and we can build some solenoid engines!!! hahaha

I have no idea what we can use them for, but if you don't think this is the coolest use for a solenoid then there's something wrong haha

Love a good solenoid.

I’m just messing about with these gpo telephone exchange consumer meters. Nicely made with a nice solenoid in each one.

I’ve blanked off 3 of the digits so I can make a silly clock using one for hours and a 2nd for the minutes. They give a lovely clunk as they activate.

I’ve also got my hands on a split flap display which I’m just reverse engineering. Tricky as it has an mpu and eprom code in it. Gotta figure out its rs485 protocol.

Anything electro mechanical is right up my street. But not sure about those solenoids. Pinball wise I’m thinking knockers chimes, or toppers. Clock wise I’d possibly have a go at making moving 7 segment displays with them……..
