Jurassic Park - Parts and Help Requested

Hi,

Ive recently come across a Jurassic Park machine which needs a bit (well, quite a bit) of TLC.

Whilst I wait for Andy to come off holiday - I want to have a go at a few things myself (and then let Pinball Mania fix my mistakes!!) Ive read the other threads on JP, so please excuse me whilst I collate some of the problems here amongst some new issues

(1) I think my ramp is warped. The ball from the power shed feeds to the outlane rather than the inlane and the inlane switch gets stuck. I may be able to straighten this, but as there is a crack on the ramp anyway, it may be worth replacing. Does anyone have a ramp for sale?

(2) The diode to the control room needs replacing. What is the best way to understanding the basics of soldering?

(3) The T-Rex has stopped working altogether. It worked when I got it but failed soon after. Any suggestions?

(4) Finally, there are a few issues / grubby parts at the back which get hindered by the position of the headboard. I really dont want to take out all the plugs and remove the board so is there a compromise to help me get at these problem areas.

Thanks for reading my rather needy first post!

Cheers!

Hi Paul

1. Do you mean the plastic ramp running to the left inlane ? Is the ramp def warped or is it maybe just not secured to a post somewhere and so sitting in wrong position ? Have a look at pics on ipdb and compare http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=jurassic&sortby=name&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick

2. This video has some excellent information and demonstration

3. Have you tried running it in the Test menu ? Also might be worth reseating any connectors associated with it ...motor etc under the table.

4. Pulling the playfield fully forward you should be able to access the rear areas of the playfield. Some removal of plastics, ramps etc might be necessary to get to all areas. Its rare that you would need to take off the rear backboard in order to clean - this should be possible if you *really* want to, as its just screwed to the playfield.

Hope this helps

I would have said 3 is probably a blown fuse or wire off under the playfield....

Good luck in sorting your issues.

Maybe 'warped' is the wrong word for the ramp - its become twisted - because the wire frame thats leads to the right inlane isnt dead vertical (the screw here is in love with the bolt and prefers not to come off) and the back of the ramp has been pinned weirdly. One screw above the join and one screw below the join. This is the part Im struggling to get to as to correct it Im going to need to get a bit more leeway from the switch at the back which Im finding hard, even with the playfield tilted.

I guess what Im saying the long way is that Im talking myself into a new ramp as the crack under the top left lamp is VERY noticeable now and is vexing me. As I say Im in the market for a new ramp (the plastic bit).

Think I will have a go at the TRex last. Sadly the malfunctioning control room takes away about 90% of the game!

OK, an update for anything interested.

Pretty much every problem on the table is solder related - which is a bugger.

And the ramp has definitely got a warp in it - so Im on the lookout for a replacement or will just leave it and stop worrying about it!

I have a box of ramps some very obscure, I'm sure there's a couple of jp ramps in, not sure on condition yet ,can you post a pic of which one your after and I will have a look.

Just had a look and the ramps I have are for lost world, I have both left and right long ramps, both seem to be in pretty good condition, Ive got two of each of these.

Cheers, but we must be thinking of different tables, as JP is a one ramp table.

I had a look on IPDB and must say that Lost World is not a table Ive come across!

Hi Longstrider whats the chance you still have a LEFT ramp for a jurassic park lost world.
