Hi

I have a NSM Firebird (ES IV) and its developed an issue, credits are zeroing intermittently on a power cycle. I replaced the battery RAM, bought from keithbad on ebay but that has not resolved the issue.

Any suggestions on where to investigate next would be greatly appreciated.

Some pics attached.

Unusual Chris ( sorry missed this first time) Have you tried re seating that rom chip beside the timekeeper? Make sure it's pins are clean etc, I should have a spare board here if it comes to that Chris.

Cheers Ronnie

No need to apologise easy to miss a single post. I'll try reseating thanks and let you know.

press the FREE button on the wired remote.

What have you programmed P094 to ?
P62 seems to be the highest setting on this model Pickholder, I believe its ES IV.

I don't have the remote but was thinking of purchasing one, the timekeeper chip was supposed to be programmed to free play but it doesn't put it into that mode.

Hi Phil, I have acquired a wired remote for the ES 4.

I have been able to set P23 to 201 and pressing the Free Credit on the remote displays 99 in the credit window however when I do a power cycle it switches back to limited credits, I can press the free credit button and it's back to unlimited (99 credits) is this how it is meant to behave the manual would lead you to believe it would retain the setting on a power cycle bit it's now obvious?

Thanks Chris

Have you tried contacting Keith as it could be a bad Timekeeper chip?

I have had a few off him in the past and had one duff one although I didn't raise an issue as it was a year before I got round to testing it!

I have since bought them from China off ebay for less than a tenner and they do the same job you just have to change a few settings which is easy enough.

If not the chip, next thing I would do is swap out the control board to eliminate anything on that.

I have already fitted a new timekeeper from Keith onto my other board, @ronnie63 kindly provided a spare board he had so currently using that and monitoring it for any loss of settings on a power cycle.
