Just swapped out the L1AT Rom of the Deadworld Mod cos. the crane has too much play and is unreliable picking up the balls and dropping them through the planet exit opto, put L7 Rom back in with the traditional slotted planet ring and can't quite believe how many extra balls this chucks out at you, makes the game far too easy. Have set the EB count to lowest but still getting 5 or 6 extra balls in the game for hitting crime scenes and other stuff.

Can't find any other Rom than L7 for non-deadworld mod play. Is there any way to reduce the number of EB's? Set like it is I've got to Ultimate Challenge twice tonight and it's gonna get boring quick unless I switch off EB's completely !?

.... and anyone want to buy the Deadworld mod ROM and planet rings for their JD?
 
Yes, you can turn extra balls off altogether and I think there's an option to all maximum number of extra balls held at anyone time.
 
Yeah I know but don't want to switch off completely, just limit them if poss. The EB count setting in Standard Adjustments doesn't seem to work... I put 2 and it still gives loads. Feature Adjustments gives option of 5-9 and nothing possible lower than this. It's bloody stupid. :hmm:
 
The magnet timing is off, drops some balls too early missing the exit opto, then all goes crazy with ball mis-count. The rods to the crane are bent and the pivot hub has too much play, parts unobtainium so can't be feckn ars*d anymore. :tut:

I had JD with a bent rod causing issues. I was able to remove it and straighten it. Crane then worked perfectly.
 
Could you fabricate them yourself? Or at least something that would work.

Possibly, but just got to the point that I'm wasting too much time on it now that could be better spent on other machines. I went through all this with my last JD, got it all good then ended up a selling when space raised it's head again. :rolleyes:

Yeah, could have another go, did this on my old one to sort but with the rounded nub of the raising rod missing, two bent rods and a sh*te pivot bracket, all of which can't be replaced AFAIK, I've just lost the desire to pursue...... Can live without it but probably gonna have to switch extra balls off with the L7 ROM, it's stupidly generous.

Just had a quick look at the manual.

Have a look at Adjustment A.2 01 - Extra Ball percent - 20 is easy, 18 medium, 15 hard. So make sure that is on 15 (or lower!). Or just put the game in extra hard mode (U.9 05)...!

Also ensure U.9 08 is off. Pages 1-19 to 1-22 of the manual.

A.1 03 and A.1 04 set to 1 or 2. Also check A.1 14, 15 and 16 are all set to credit.

That should sort it. Oh and ensure your batteries are working so the settings are retained... :cool:

Have a old L2 ROM you can have,but it will show up that phantom swicth on the crane!!
Did think it played a bit faster ,but maybe not :hmm:

Ahhh I have that phantom switch, the credit dot had me and repair Martin scratching our heads. What's the best/latest rom to use without the deadworld mod?

I think it was L 3 that had two switches with the same name, 'Left Ramp Enter'; the one that wasn't fitted came up as a Test Report

I'd advise against L 6; it's prone to forgetting about balls on either shooter. I'd go along to a call-out, to find two balls on a shooter. Going into switch tests showed that the switch was reading as closed, and returning to attract mode would see them kicked onto the playfield

Not that L 7 isn't without a couple of problems. During one of the Super Game modes, the audio says "Shoot left ramp" (for the 100 million), but doing so only produces that bike-riding animation. If you happen to glance up, the display shows 'Shoot subway for 100,000,000', and that does work. And during a Super Game, the stated replay score increases by 100 million for each ball in play. I've never been sure if that's intentional or not
