hi folks , lucky to be babysitting this game for someone , this is my first time with having a problem with these screen era games,, i can just about get around dmd era games so forgive any daft comments or things like that , so the left hand flipper has stopped working , no sign of life, managed to get to the coil test, it fires up, tried the switch test and it works,,tried the node boards test and they come up as okay, have tried seating of all cables and connectors ,, the eos looks fine, so i`m now stumped,, have done some reading up on pinside and on here trying to get more knowledge, what do you guys think i should try next ? ,, is node board 9 a main suspect, thank you in advance , mark

So wait a sec, both coil and switch test work fine?

That's odd. I'd be checking the wiring from the node board, make sure nothing has come loose in transit.

You could always try swapping node board 9 with 8 (need to just adjust the dip switches).

my right flipper on Bksor packed in, I though it was the leaf switch but it turns out to be the connection on node 8. I pushed the wire up and it started working. Then the left flipper died 1 min later! 249185-c880d3723d469d22ede09abd723c08b2.jpg

I took a piece of wire and touched pins 4 and 7 and the left flipper fired. Try that and fingers crossed you've located the issue.

It will most likely be the one pins on the connector for the flipper going into the node board.

It will need to be re pinned to solve.

.

You will need the following toools if you don't have them:

1) these to pop the pins out of the housing or you can use a tiny screw driver

2) Pins:

I would get more than you need by at least 15. You will need a couple to practice

3) a crimp tool

HT-225D Crimp Tool for Molex Crimp Pins AWG 18-22 / 24-30 0.156" and 0.1"

4) Wire Strippers

5) Wire cutters

6) some spare wire to practice (if you need) I didnt

You need to do the following:

1) Take pictures of the housing and pins, plugged into the node board (so you know which pin goes where)

2) remove the pin causing the problem. To do this disconect the connector from the board. gently push the spiky tool or a small screwdriver in the hole slightly above the block furthest away from the wire. its metal and long for each pin. gently pull the wire at the same time. the pin will pop out.

3) Using the wire cutters cut the metal pin off. Just above the metal crimp bit, it will only cut around 1/2 centemeter of wire if that!

4) Take a pin and practive crimping it in the hole furthest away from the handle, the top one. Its a short very quick action. Once you got the hang of it..

5) measure the wire with the crimp so you cut the right amount. put the uncut wire in the crimp housing, should be just enough to cover the metal bit that u shapped.

6) using the wire stripper, placce the wire in the smallest hole, cut teh wire to the correct length the wire based upon the length measured

7) place the pin in the crimping tool, whilst the pin in the tool, put the wire in and then press the handle to crmip, fast hard and quick. Pin should be now on the wire.

8) push the pin back into the housing, will here it click. ready to go, plug the conector back in.

Play :)

Just reading this as just had problem with EHoH crypt opto switch that wasn't registering. It was the pin in the node board connector that had broken inside. Replaced pin as described above and now working.

The original post says that the flipper switch works in test so this problem is something different? Did you actually go into the switch test menu to check it?

thank you everybody for all your replies , very helpful, will be checking further in a couple of days,,, as iv`e got some work to do :(
