Johnny Mnemonic a few problems

Feel sure someone is gonna be able to help.
Firstly,i have the settings for ball saves set for all 5 balls and the max time of 15 secs. This is to give my young granddaughter a chance but no way do you get 15 secs plus the reboot light between the flippers don't light to let you know what's happening. I'm sure it used to. All lights work in lamp test.
Secondly, when it awards you an extra ball you don't get it despite A1 03 and A1 04 being set for 10 and 2 respectively. Yes very generous I know but my granddaughter ain't that good. Is battery removal the last resort. Thanks Ken
