I know this is a long long long shot but if anyone has one and wants to sell. Please PM me.

Thanks

What's the craic with these being so scarce? I imagine it wasn't cheap for JJP to buy the licence and develop the game so why weren't they produced in bigger numbers?

Is a re-run more likely now that Johnny Depp won his case and his image can once again be plastered all over the machine or is that neither here nor there?

JJP have the capacity to run two lines. I’d expect once GnR stops. They will start POTC and Toy Story. Question is on price as POTC is a wide body. JJP did say they wouldn’t make another widebody due to costs! But that doesn’t rule out a re-run..

They have to deal with Disney for another license.
It is not just the case of starting up production.

They also have Steve Ritchies new game nearly finished so that will be on the production line ASAP.
Why go back to an old pin that from memory had so many little issues? Saying that - all JJPs do.

was supposed to have a triple spinning disk in the middle of the playfield - but was swapped out for much simpler single disk mech at the last minute, and resulted in poor initial sales.

btw, I hated it - had it for about 2 years and just couldn't get into the game at all.

@AlanJ - correct on all shouts.
We had a proto at Tilt. The three spinning discs were a pain, and apparantly Jack himself moaned about them getting rid of that.
I thought the game was nothing special.
It is expensive as it is rare.

I played the proto at pinfest a few years ago. I thought it was great. Apparently it’s a 4 year degree course including a gap year in the wild to play on site in order to learn the rules but after that it’s pretty simple.
I’d love to own one.

A POTC re-run has been rumoured for ages now. Opinion seems to be split on whether it will happen - apparently the game had a high BOM, was a PITA to make and they had lots of QC problems. There’s also the fact that the line at the new JJP factory is said to only be set up to manufacturer standard games and not wide bodies, and the licensing issues mentioned earlier. Then again, if they think there’s enough $$$ to be made then none of these are insurmountable.

Despite owning one I’d be very much in favour of a re-run. I think it’s a great game and it would be nice if there were more out there for people to enjoy. It would also mean that I could in theory let mine go someday knowing it wouldn’t be almost impossible to get one back in the future. Having a valuable game you don’t want to sell isn’t really a benefit.

Re Scorbit - it’s on the most recent beta, along with loads of other improvements. I’ve had it since the end of last year, but think they’re waiting for the final wizard mode to be finished before public release.

It's probably not a game you pick up all of the rules in the wild, but you can certainly get enough to put up a decent score.

The triple spinning disc was a really cool idea, but in practice was a nightmare.
Unreliable mechanically, constantly running and thus directing the ball down the centre, no matter which angle the ball approached from.

The single disc works much better.

I would definitely put it in my top 5 games of all time, with the others being DP, GZ, IMdn & probably TWD.
