Hi!
My intro: I was born in Swansea, grew up in Manchester and have been living in Germany since 1989. I was introduced to pinball at a campsite in Wales and quickly developed a full-on addiction. I'm 60 so when I was in my teens there were tons of pins at holiday towns such as Blackpool, Rhyl, Southport as well as in the dodgy arcades in central Manchester. Anyone remember Pleasure Pastimes (Can you lend me 10p)? My Dad bought me my first game - Gottlieb Melody - for a tenner in about 1981, which I sold for a fiver two years later (doh!). I love all eras of pinball from the 60s up to now and currently have Surf Champ, NGG and JP Pro in my line-up. I'd love to get Melody again, so if anyone has a lead, please let me know.
I used to be active on the European tournament scene, so I had encounters with UK players such as David, Matt, Craig, Gregg, Peter, Martin, and of course Jim and Dina, but that ended when I moved in with my wife 12 years ago (and also led to massive collection downsizing). Her kids are now 18 and 20, so I'm tentatively dipping my toes into the tournament scene again. If only I wasn't so **** ;-).
I'm based in Duisburg, which has no public pinball locations, but is within range of three pinball clubs. Here's a link, but it's all in German: https://freeplay.ruhr/
Looking forward to interacting with UK pinheads.
Stefan
