Intermittent STtNG gun problem

The left gun on my STtNG is not shooting properly. When I pull the trigger there is sometimes a multiple second delay until the ball is actually fired. I am not sure yet if this is only happening in certain modes, or every time that gun is fired. Any ideas?

Test using the switch test and see if it's showing up instantly on the switch matrix. It could be that the switch needs a tweak or is on it's way out...

Or the wiring for the cannon is buggered?

There also needs to be a decent separation between release of the canon home switch and the canon mark switch. A ball won't be allowed to fire until 'mark' has successfully opened.

Looks like no switch problems, but the gun has completely stopped working now. I ran the solenoid test and it's not popping. Is there a way I can test the solenoid to check whether it's dead?

And it looks like a wire has come off, so hopefully that can be fixed easily enough..
