ok as there is a thread at the mo about a pinball museum,

I would like people's ideas of their ideal pinball venue ?

Mine would be somewhere that had a varied line up and pins that work,
Somewhere that you could have a chat with like minded pinheads over a pint,
That would lead to being able to crash at the establishment or be within walking distance of a prem inn etc
It would have a doc clinic run by a top fixer , so that your broken pins could be fixed whilst you play
The who would be the resident band, ( too much )

Well you get the picture hopefully

What would be in your dream venue ?

CHAIRS!

Loved the SCS but really wanted somewhere to sit down. Guess I'm getting old:(

But if you look at the above features. The pipeline actually ticks most of the boxes. good luck bringing a pin into it for repair though....

You've just described Pins Anon HQ1 & 2. AND it had a 24hour BBQ.

If I had the business sense and money backing I would like to open a place like Dave & busters in Atlanta. Two guys you can guess there names. One owned an arcade one a restaurant. They decided to combine and opened this huge warehouse type place with bars and restaurants arcade machines, pins, shuffle brds pool snooker etc. if a table isn't booked or ready you have a pager to call you from your games when ready. Table magicians entertain while you eat too. A great place. It might be called The Moose Hut

That place sounds awesome

...and went bust in the UK....

It closed partially due to lack of enough customers and too many constraints from the US company who allowed the franchise (such as no u-21's and so forth)

At the time Bass had an agreement that they would open 15 stores over the period of 20 years, so back then a 25 year lease fitted the plans. Bass then claimed that it wasn't in there future plans to continue running the stores.

Headphone jacks/ USB ports in all coin doors so you can appreciate the sounds without other machines/ patrons drowning it out.

Pinball parts area stocking all parts, including unobtanium plastics. Including repair/ service area that does callout.

Well-stocked bar in quiet area so you can chat with other pinheads.

Space for people to bring in and set up machines for sale. Delivery service for same.

Just up the road from me.

Or even better the audio hooked up to a bluetooth transmitter so you can enjoy each table via bluetooth headphones.

Oh, and a big sign saying 'WiredWorms Pinball Emporium' over the front door of course.

OOh - it was a project in progress and i had been distracted by other things... Think i might resurrect this one :)

The two machines I really wanted to play were both out of order but it did make a change from the casinos.

Well, I'm going to go with the opposite of what most people here would likely prefer. We need to get more young people in to pinball, therefore what I suggest isn't necessarily what I would prefer, but it's what would work:

- a good variety of games but with modern Stern's, JJP's, and Heighways being the most prominent (to lure people in).
- have a 'no chair' policy to discourage old people from coming in for a sit down.
- play loud music, modern as possible, to discourage people from coming in to chat and gossip.
- have a bar which sells not only beers, but plenty of spirits, shots, and cocktails.
- the venue should be within walking distance of a town centre.
- it should be near other leisure facilities, like a cinema or bowling alley.
- it be near crappy food outlets and restaurants, like KFC, McDonalds, Nando's etc.
- hold tournaments and meets, but create leagues like under 16's, over 40's etc.

Do that and you can charge a premium price, have a successful business, and make pinball cool again!
