HS2 Flippers not working

Strange one for me.

No flippers working from the flipper buttons.

The Flipper tests work.

The switch test for both flipper buttons does not work.

I have tested the connection at the Fliptronic board end, by disconnecting 905 and when the either flipper button is Pressed the meter shows continuity- so looks to me like the switch is physically working.

EOS switch tests work (use my fingers to close each switch).

Checked fuses and they’re all good (removed and tested with meter).

Any advice or suggestions very welcome.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks Chris

The switch doesn’t seem to be powered on this HS2. I think I’m misunderstanding you.

J117 is used to power the PIN2DMD display so pretty sure 12v is active on the connectors in that area of the board.

Is the contact leaf switch burnt out ?
or is the contact missing ?
Hard to see in the pic

Thanks Dave - I think the contact is fine as the connection checks out on 905 when I hook up a meter on the pins. I get continuity when the buttons are pressed.

Really scratching my head on this one. Happened after I hooked up a Donut Heaven mod with LED lights. So disrupted something somehow in the process...

I’m powering the LED in Donut Heaven from the right bank flasher . No shorts.

I have tried without the mod connected and same result.

Good point. I’ve got my TZ in bits - so will test with the board from that machine, and see if that points in the same direction... thanks.

Have you checked the fuses? Adding the LED to the flasher bank may have taken out a fuse, I'd look there first...

Edit: Should have re-read the first post. Did you check all fuses or just the ones you thought might have been affected?

Checked those that I thought would impact flippers. Will go through them again.

Good news is I’ve got the machine working again, and I found a bad fuse - but just for one of the GI loops.

The bad news is that it’s taken a swap of Fliptronics board to get it working. So looks like there is an error on the board. I’ll take a look and see if it’s anything obvious.

Must have been a coincidence installing that mod - can’t see how hooking up a mod onto a flasher would cause a problem on that board - any thoughts?

Who’s best to diagnose and fix Fliptronic boards? myPinballs ?

Cheers

Did that mod have crocodile clips ? if yes be careful they can short out the bulb better still solder direct.
good luck

This is the backside of the removed Fliptronics board. Pin 1 on J905 has shorted and burnt the track. That will explain why the flipper signal wasn’t getting through... wonder what else is fried?

Little repair done and I’m back in business!

Not sure how that happened... must have shored something while faffing with the mod.

Thanks all for helping me.
