I want to pm another member but can't work it out, Am I missing something?

How do you send PM's?

Hover over the inbox button (top menu, right hand side), then choose "Start a conversation". Brings up something like sending an email. Enter person's user name and away you go...
or click on the persons user name by their avatar to get a pop up menu to start a convo' if you can see them in a thread.
