How can i resolve DMD 'clouding' ?

I have two machines with dmd issues at the moment, my new Addams has a sort of cloudy background, not isolated to a corner or the same area each time but seems to be random areas. Also my Junk Yard takes a while to 'warm up' it seems, when first turned on the edges of text are missing, but after a short while it gets better. Are these easy fixes? will they need new dmd's or board repairs? Is it something a layman could tackle with some instruction?

Any help gratefully received.

JY = DMD on way out, you can stick it in a game with a pinled board or muck around and get more juice through it, but you will need a new DMD at some point

TAF - check the display in another game (should be fine) If it is fine in another game, it can be cold solder joints, DMD HV section on way out (check voltages), heat issue with one of the 3 transistors (top right with heatsinks) or one of the ceramic resistors

the dmd's perfect matt. i have tested it with another board. the boards the issue mate.either rebuild or replace the board.

hope you both got home last night. it was good to meet you mate.

loving the SS by the way!

I'm glad you're enjoying it mate! The Addams is very up and down, (no ball save?) but i'll get there! I have a spare DMD, so i'll give the JY a try with it!

Cheers Nick.

Nice work! I managed to tour the mansion yesturday, but drained the ball straight away!!

if a display is 'cloudy' i assume you have illumination where you shouldn't . This can mean that the power supply is too high and needs to be repaired. Check the voltages at the power connector with a multimeter and report back. If it is too high it will damage the display over a short period of time.
