Just started taking everything off The Shadow and everything was going swimmingly until I tried to get the left hand diverter off. Someone has put oversize screws in where the set screws should be, I was able to remove one of them but the other will not budge, I can't get any further because the diverter goes through the ramp and plastic below!

The screw head is knackered now from trying to undo it, even tried applying heat to it but still no joy.

What the hell do I do now? :(

screw grip in the slot MAY help.This is the problem when wrong screwdriver bit is used and/or crap screw.
If not then I would go for vice(also called mole) grips
 
i bought some of that friction grips stuff- one drop of that blue crap helped me get a purchase on a stripped screw head
 
Problem with this one is not only is it stripped but its well and truly wedged in.

Will try some needle nose mole grips.
 
So mole grips didn't work, there was no room to turn them once it was clamped to the screw and furthermore, the jaws were slipping so I went with @abaxas suggestion if cutting a slot in it with a Dremel, only problem being I don't own one. So 32.99 later and some sore fingers from twisting the diverter out as it was stuck in the flange thing I can finally get on with giving it a deep clean.
 
Yeah small ones, it was just really hard to turn it more than a few mm at a time but even when they were really tight it was still slipping, maybe I just bought ****e ones :p

Good excuse to have a dremel in my arsonal though.
 
Dremel is essential for pinball work, how else are you going to get out all those operator rounded hex bolts?
 
Whilst were on the subject, what bits do you find most useful? I just used a grinding disc that it came with (dremel 3000 series).
 
Just buy a cheapo set from ebay.

Think I paid 15 quid for mine and it's ground, cut, savaged many things so far.
 
That doesn't come with a dremel though. I imagine if I bought one I'd almost never use it, but still I agree it sounds handy so if I get a recommendation I will probably get one. Surely only minimal bits needed as Carl says
