I played HH as a teenager. I liked it.
I've toiled with the idea on getting one for a while. When Phil at PH put up the project machine I thought why not.
This will be a slow burn thread until I have completed Space Invaders.

Some plastics are broken and Pinball Center have them in stock which is a good thing.

Cliff Rainer has cliffys and they are slowly making there way to me.

Pinball Resource has of course various spares which is handy.

Backglass in good condition.

Let's see how we go with this one....

I thought I would take a few things off and it just snowballed a bit. Every screw has been undone and screwed in again. This pinball must have made a tidy sum in its hey day.

Stuff arrived today from Pinball Center. PB Resource won't ship to the UK at the moment slating USPS but others are usingbthem fine.
Right hand is a replacement plastic. Colours are deeper.
I repaired the attic playfield. Its not perfect but I think will be fine for the occasions its featured.
As you can see I've put a protector set for HH. I have one on SI and thinking about investing across my keeper portfolio due to age of some and latest Sterns which there is an active debate on there QC.

I've not seen many members using protector pf sets so wondering if this has been discussed prior to my time here?

I highly rate them and have been slowly installing them to all of my cabs as I get around to each one. Just fitted one to my WH20 restore.

Arrived from the US. As I have expirence with overlays , I was dubious of the quality as I bought it blind, but really pleased with this one. It will have a protector on it as well and will really save the main playfield.

@Moonraker General wear as expected. So my options was to touch up areas or get a new playfield ££££.

But asked the question about a PF overlay and someone said they have a scan.
Considering how well SI came back I thought it will look great.

Haunted house is so iconic... One day I'll have one... Hopefully 😂 Looks like you've got a nice project on your hands here, looking forward to following along the journey

Been having urges this week so got some momentum going.
Been talking to a bloke called Don in Florida who can do a new power supply and sound supply card for about £100 landed to Basingstoke.
I took of the Mylar off yesterday and PF sanded today.
Long way still to go.
Need to order some coils from Europe before we leave.
Homework to do is grounding a system 80 so it works. 😂

Main power supply ordered from the chaps at Pindora Box.

Been cribbing up at bit on Gottliebs.
Nice surprise, if it works is that I have a sound and speech card. I only ever played a sound only game back in the 80s.

Further homework

I'm missing the speech chip so sound only.

I think the Gottlieb audio pcb shown doesn't have the speech chip fitted, which isn't surprising since Haunted House didn't have speech. As I understand it, the chip, fitted in the socket top left of the picture, has always been a costly device. Gottlieb had one audio board, and simply omitted the chip on games without speech. Except, arguably, with Q*bert's Quest, where it was present to produce (and I quote the manual) "Random Mumbling".

An unusual feature for an audio pcb is the facility to select the time interval for attract mode sound.

Quite some progress to report in.

At one fuse at a time I powered up. I've not connect the solenoid fuse up yet though.

Key thing was to see the displays powered and yep. Lovely green displays with that 80s slight flicker. I've not grounded the game as per pinwiki yet. Displays show 000 the 555

I have no sound. The chips are warm on the sound board but the power card module with the heat sink is cold so I expect A7 needs to be replaced.

I've added star posts which you can see illuminated. LEDs are on order for GI.

I've added a few extra lights after watch one of Todd's videos to bring some light to some dark areas.
The game is in attract mode.

Not all bad to be honest
I need to re pin a connector. I am rather pleased with myself today.
