Wanted Harlem Globetrotters

Hi

Looking to either borrow or buy one of these. Cosmetic condition unimportant which is unusual for me but not intending to get as a keeper, just after one for a few months to have a bit of a bash on and then will move on. But preferably fully working.

Let me know if anyone has one for sale or willing to loan for a few months please.

Spot on, not my usual preference, just feel I could do with putting in some quality time on a tough classic to get a good feel for that type of game.

Before my time mate. Was on the Island until early 90s barring holidays in Bournemouth . Rarely went to Poole though but don't think I missed much!
 
Harlem Globetrotters is a great classic game for practising your shots on. I really enjoyed the one that I bought and restored a while back. I sold mine to Andy H.

The sound on HGOT is primitive, it has no ramps or multiball, but has a good layout with in-line drops that can punish you at times if you go for them. A similar game to Paragon, but a normal size playfield without that Beast's Lair.

It's another game that I used to play in a local pub games room as a teenager in the late 1970's. There were 14,500 of these made, so there are still quite a few of these around.

Another similarity with Globetrotters is the 70's e/m Gottlieb Soccer/Super Soccer, which has the same three bumpers dead in line, with a pair of spinners at centre playfield.

Smart move.

These games play very differently to later ones. I saw Albert Nomden playing an old (pre speech) bally ss at the uk open classics tournament last year, it was a masterclass in patience and tiny nudging. He then knocked me out of the main tourney on avatar and roadshow with a totally different playing style.

Consider a Paragon too.

Very similar gameplay to globetrotters. Those awesome pre-linear flippers. Both games have the double flipper arrangement. Paragon has 2 saucers at the top (globetrotters has one). Both have inline drops. Both have similar, pre-speech sound cards. But paragon has a much bigger playfield with more variety and more shots.
 
Oh, and I know that to some folk there is an effective hierarchy of games

DMD best
Then alpha numeric
Then SS numeric games with speech
Then SS numeric games with basic beepy sounds and no background track

I was initially wary of my Paragon sounds. The later games - Fathom, Vector, Centaur have far more varied tracks

But I actually like the beepy sounds of Paragon, Harlem Globe etc. not right, not wrong, just different. And of their time

Not specifically, just to get A classic and Harlem seems to be one of the most representative.

Been very kindly offered a Paragon on loan which will be awesome and as good to play as Harlem so hopefully now sorted :clap: Very many thanks to @Petebauer
