Big problem is the colour scheme, dont know if its my crappy work laptop or not but very difficult to read, please revise the colours.

Go to Preferences and set Style to Default....changes to a nice white and blue

Ah, that's much better. I'm using remote desktop to access this from work (sssh!) and the white background xfers across much quicker when scrolling.
