Yo!

I owned a Gottlieb Volcano pinball for a month now which ive been fixing up (resoldered all the connections, all the boards and all the bumper cards, changed all the dead lights and added LED's on the playfield + Backbox, fixed one of the displays, painted over the spots on the gamefield that was worn down into the wood, general cleaning, fixed the left Ball-save which was dead) and got everything but the soundboard to work, thing is, since its the cheaper European version ive been planning to upgrade it to the US version with music and speech.

Now i want to know, is that doable like, straight on/plug and play or do i have to change something else (i know about the extra power supply thats required, the cable is already there for it in the cab) like ROMs on the MPU or somewhere else?

And, i got hold of some soundroms from a MAME site, are those useable in a real pinball if i decide to renovate the existing soundcard and burn a new ROM (the one thats sits there now gets really hot and ive had no sound from it as long as i owned it)?

Also, is the music better in the US version or the EU version of the soundcard?

The sound board should be a straight plug and play but you will probably need the American ROMs. You can ask pinball resource direct at www.pbresource.com

Don't know about the US v Euro differences.
