Picked up a freebie Jumping Jack over the weekend, starting to make a shopping list, from initial inspection a number of drop targets are broken, Marco have a set but also have plain yellow ones for about half the price...

Figured if they are compatible I could just make up decals for the faces, anyone know if they will work?

JJ specific set

Universal (listed for SS games)

they are cheaper direct from The Pinball Resource (as are most parts, Marco is expensive and are often just offering PBR stuff at a markup) if you are buying other stuff as well (they have min order value of $200 for UK - not sure if that applies to Guernsey too) You will also need to pay by Wise (they don't accept credit cards or PayPal. But they have an amazing stock of parts.

Great game, I saw it available and am really pleased you are rescuing it. I've had my Jack in the Box for 40 years and love it, and I've restored a Jumping Jack too, so if you need any photos for reference or advice I'm happy to help

One tip - put a reminder on the game to remove the ball from the out hole before lifting the playfield - if you don't it's the fastest way I know of breaking those drop targets (and the large plastic behind them)!

Good luck with the restoration 👍

That's a good point about removing the balls, the big centre plastics cracked too, have seen full plastic sets, but all the others seem ok from my quick inspection.

Will have a think see if there's anything else I need, its definitely worth saving, it was working a few years back when the guy first got it, so hopefully not too much needed other than cleaning everything and re gapping switches etc.

Will probably repaint the cab and make up some stencils, playfield will likely clean and leave as is, I find wear more acceptable than a poor touch up job, and I'm not at the level to do it well :)

Unfortunately I'm completely out of room for another permanent game set up, so planning to work on it over the winter, get it working and have a few games, then there's a guy at work who likes it, so will give it to him :)

Thanks dude, there's a fair bit too them eh, most I've worked on before is the three bank on whirlwind, so all a bit new to me.

yeah, it's a bit of a faff, but I've always got there ok.
I take the playfield out and turn it upside down on the table - quick and easy to do (remove the 2 connectors to the bottom board and the one to the head) and makes the job a lot easier

Sounds like a good idea, can imagine doing it with the playfield up is a back breaker.

There's a weird bracket/hack just in front of the drop targets on the topside too that needs to be addressed, no idea why it's there.
