Hi

Just de-tombstoned HS2 (only tombstoned for a few days so we could get a table in for Xmas dinner) & I'm getting sound, but no music, and the display stays on the Pin2DMD title screen. Where do I start? I'm assuming it's something that's been dislodged, but the documentation at pin2dmd.com is pretty sparse. Also, when the machine starts, I get a single loudish beep as normal, then 6 quieter noises (I'm going to call these chirps) which I don't usually get.

First thing tomorrow, I'll try reseating everything, but I'm knackered today.

Any pointers appreciated. Happy to provide further information, but not really sure what's relevant.

Yup - fresh day with a fresh head & the ribbon cable sorted the display issue. Still no joy with the sound, but it's playable (which is good, as the neighbours are coming round this afternoon). I'll leave the sound for now - been meaning to put the TiltAudio card back in, so this could give me the nudge to do it.

Go into the sound test menu. Does the music fail in the test? You could have a loose or corrupt sound rom chip.

Especially since you said its partially working.

Reseating the ROM chip just needs a skinny flat head screwdriver to gently lift up the chip (do this from both ends gradually to avoid tension) then if neccessary isoprophyl alcohol on the legs of the chip if they look dirty or oxidised and reseat.

I would also reseat the ribbon cable again for the cables that lead to the sound board. They likely need cleaning inside the connector stick them in the ultrasonic (if you have one) failing that cotton swab and clean the header pins on the board. Ideally replace the ribbon cables if you can't sink them in a cleaner.
