Getaway Mars flashing Lamp problem!

Hi all,

I've got a slight issue with my Getaway Mars flashing lamp. The lamp works fine, and the motor works perfectly, but the spindle coming out of the motor (which is turning fine) won't grip the rubber ring under the rotating flasher. It's just slipping.

I've tried tightening things, loosening things, sanding the rubeer ring to give it some 'grip'. Tried adjusting the motor to make it tight up against the flasher etc.

Any suggestions? Also, should the spindle coming out the motor have a rubber sleeve on it??

Any help appreciated

If you could that would be great!

Also reading other sites and googling, there seems to be a couple of different types. Some like the F-14 and others totally different with a gearbox type motor?!

Mines more like a F-14 flashing lights I think!

Is it worth trying to reduce the friction on the axle of the rotating flasher so the motor/ rubber ring drive has less work to do ?

Polish up the bearing ? Solvol autosol any metallic corrosion ? Novus 2 any dirty plastic ? Isopropyl alcohol any dirt away ?

Light spray with this stuff when it is all clean, dry teflon lube on whatever bearing there is ... Thus makes a remarkable difference to spinners

I had exactly your problem on an old 70s tape deck. I stripped some insulation off a suitably sized wire that was a tight fit on the motor shaft and it really worked a treat. Maybe heat shrink might do it ?

You could roughen up the motor shaft with fine abrasive, so it has greater purchase with the rubber ring, but that would be a long way down my list of fixes

cheers. ive tried reducing the friction and it still isnt turning it :(
