Does anyone know what type of black paint i could use to do some touch ups on the getaway sideart ?
It would need to be a paint or spray as some parts need filling
Thank you :)

Before I did my re-decal job I had decent results with the colour match service from B&Q.
One of the hardest most noticiable things I find with touching up large areas is any difference in gloss levels
So I brought the gloss and matte versions of the same colour and mixed them to get the right level.

Wasn't the cheapest way as I had to buy 2l of paint, so now our picnic bench is also Whirlwind blue :D

Yeah its a bit of a minefield, especially with US sites, those guys all seem to be spraying 2pac in the garden and stuff, they seem to have more specialist paints available to the public 😁

How about those Humbrol paints? the kind people use for model making, they seem to still do those as oil based Enamel.

I'm sure if you got a few different blacks/dark greys in matt and gloss you could mix up something pretty close.

Are you looking at brushing in the touch-ups? Any pictures?

Heres the pics i just want to tidy the side up at the moment it took some damage to the side rails during shipping that also pulled a chunk of wood out. Dont really want to be doing sideart at the moment and with it being mostly black .. heres the pic

I use both 2K paint and regular Humbrol enamels.

Looking at your above picture I'd personally go with 2K satin or gloss black on the sides and enamel on the red. 2K you can use a high density roller but the roller foam with start to disintegrate in about 5-10 minutes....

I'd say touch up the red first and see how you feel about your progress. You can get reasonable results with red Humbrol paint. I'm working on my Scared Stiff cabinet as we speak. That's had a combination of 2K and enamels.

Good luck which ever way you go and spend your time doing it, there's no short cuts with this stuff.

Thats great cheers Rich 🙂 great work btw on yours! 👍

The best paint to use for cabinet touch ups is Sign Painters 1 Shot enamel, and it comes in a lot of colours. This will give you the right texture, consistency and matching glossy/satin sheen as original cabinets. It's quite expensive though and doing all the black on a cabinet like The Getaway wouldn't be cheap, although you can get a Flow Enhancer (works a bit like thinners) to dilute it down a bit for use in airbrushes or spray guns. I did this for repainting all the the green on a Data East TMNT and had to mix 2 of their different greens to get the right shade.

Why not just do the right thing and get it 're decaled?
I have got too many projects at the moment going on mostly arcade cabs so havent really got the space until they are done 😔 it was a nightmare working around a mk2 cab to do the sideart on that a few months back 😂
I eventually will do it but for now i just want to get everything tidy and running
